I walked deeper in the cave, darkness engulfing me. I was scared at first, but I pushed on.
I got to keep moving forward, there's one thing I have to do.
Find Amanda. She has to be alive. I can feel it. Why would the mayor and his black friend come here?
Because she's alive. They're just checking on her. That's a theory anyway.
I don't want to think Amanda's dead. I have to keep that hope that she's alive. If she is, I will rescue her. That's what Eric and Joanna would want me to do.
And I will do it. I can't back down from this.
I gripped the gun in my hand tightly and I kept taking slow steps deeper in the darkness.
I walked and walked. God this cave must go on forever. I kept on walking in the tunnel until I could see two pathways. One's left and one's right. I had to figure out which way to go.
I decided to take the right pathway. Since it's just a gut feeling. I walked on the path and didn't look back.
The darkness is still there, every step I took. Guess this cave doesn't get many visitors here. I was walking until my foot tripped over something and I fell face first to the ground. I landed hard on my stomach and grunted.
I got on my hands and knees and then I saw something on the ground with me and I gasped. A lot of skeletal remains of different animals were all over the floor. I gasped again and I stood up on my feet. I breathed fast, my heart beating in fear.
Jesus, I hope Amanda's okay.
And speaking of Amanda I could have sworn I heard a echo of a scream in the tunnel. It sounded like a girl.
A smile spread across my face. Good she's alive! I followed the direction of the scream. My feet stepping on the bones of all the animals that were dead for a long time, making the bones make a loud crack when I step on them. Guess there have been visitors here after all. I think that dragons used to come here years ago and they never cleaned up the mess.
This is really scary. I pushed on and in the distance I could see a light in the distance. About freakin time there's light. I was getting tired of the darkness. I walked to it in the tunnel.
When I found the light, it turned out there's a torch that has been lit on the wall. The mayor and his buddy must have lit it up. The tunnel still went on and I followed it.
In the distance I could hear Amanda's voice, "Let me go!" I gasped. God she really is alive. She really was kidnapped by them.
I had an angry and determined look on my face. Hold on Amanda, I'm on my way. I pushed on and I could hear other voices. I must be getting closer to them. They must be talking to Amanda.
I walked until I could REALLY hear their voices around the corner. I hugged my back against the wall and I peeked around the corner. My eyes went wide when I could see the mayor, his black dragon lackey and Amanda who is chained to a wall by her ankle. They're in some kind of chamber.
Amanda!
Amanda tried to pull the chain out of the wall and she cried out in frustration. She shouted, "Let me GO!!!"
The mayor lowered his head to her level and snarled at her, "Silence human!!!"
Amanda gasped and she put a hand over her mouth. She finally stopped struggling. The mayor said, "Now you know that you won't live forever now. Sooner or later, you'll die in this cave."
Amanda had a frightened look on her face and held out her hands pleading, "Please can someone get me something to eat? I'm hungry. I feel like I haven't ate anything all day."
The black dragon shook his head and said, "Not a chance. This is your fault that you were meddling in our affairs."
Amanda shouted, "But this is wrong! You can't treat humans this way!"
The mayor glared down at her, "You don't tell me what to do! You are MY prisoner now and you will die as a prisoner. I'm only doing this to teach humanity a lesson."
Amanda frowned at them, "What lesson? What kind of lesson is this?!" Then she raised her chained up ankle for empathy. Then she shouted, "This is ABUSE! You two are no better than my father!!!"
The mayor cocked his head at her, "I don't know your father, girl. But I don't care, you humans are all cold blooded murderers and liars. You only care about yourselves. Your kind has killed a lot of my kind for years and I've had it! Your kind have taken over my kinds land for far too long. We will have it all back. And to do that...We'll start a war with your kind and we will WIN."
Amanda shook her head furiously, with a scared look on her face, "But I didn't do anything to your kind! I never would have killed anyone like you!"
The mayor slammed his paw down to the ground to silence her. She yelped as the ground shook a bit. The mayor still had his glare fixed on her and said, "You really take me for a fool? Do you think you and your male human friend can manipulate my kind into thinking that your kind has changed? NO. Why? Because your kind never changes."
Amanda said, "Yes, we have! We have changed. I know that my kind has killed yours a lot, but we're not like that anymore. We really have changed, we have evolved." Then she pulled her ankle chained foot again and pleaded, "Please take me back to the city and don't start this war. Please damn it. Don't do this!"
The mayor snarled, "Shut up! Or I'll burn you to a crisp right now!"
Amanda shut her trap again and she just stood there staring at them. I saw a wooden box nearby in the room with them and I ran quietly to it. I crouched down behind it and I peeked over it
The mayor sighed and looked at his black friend, "Well she's not starved to death yet. Guess we'll come back here tomorrow night."
The black dragon nodded and said, "Yes, we'll come back here tomorrow night."
Amana snarled at them, with tears in her eyes, "If my mother found out what you've done to me, she'll kill you both! If my friends found out that I'm here, THEY'LL FUCK YOU OVER!"
The black dragon laughed and the mayor smugly said, "Nice threat, but no one knows where you are. No one will come rescue you. So you can die now." He said to his lackey, "Lets leave this human bitch to her grave."
Then they both whirled around on Amanda. She ducked down beneath the mayor's tail. She shouted angrily, "You scaly asshole!"
I ducked down behind the wooden box, before the mayor and his friend could see me. I heard them walking out of the room and I peeked around the corner and saw them walking off in the tunnel together.
I could hear Amanda crying in sobs. I had a angry look on my face. Those bastards. They kidnapped her because they don't like humans. They kidnapped her just to teach humanity a lesson. That's complete bullshit!
I got up from behind the box and saw Amanda who is still standing around with the chain around her ankle.
Amanda saw me stand up from my hiding spot and she beamed at me, "Wayne?"
I put the gun in my pocket and smiled at her, "Amanda." Then I ran around the box and I ran to her. I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her tight. Amanda cried into my shoulders.
I pulled away from her and asked, "God...What happened to you?"
Amanda answered, "Last night, I was taking a walk in the city during the night and while I was walking I heard the mayor screaming from inside a stone building. I wandered in it and then I heard the mayor talking to his black friend here. It turns out the dragon who attacked you and Sierra, has worked with them."
My eyes went wide, "What?"
Amanda nodded, "Yes, I heard them talking about you and Sierra. They just refer to you and Sierra by the blue dragoness and the human male. They're just so cruel."
I said, "And they just kidnapped you?"
Amanda nodded with a glum expression, "Because I heard everything. I thought they would just kill me, but they didn't. They took me out of the city and they took me all the way out here. In this cave. They said they would starve me to death by chaining me to a wall. They're heartless. The only reason why they want me to die that way is to teach humanity a lesson. That's sick."
I asked, "So then what did the mayor mean by...Starting a war?"
Amanda's eyes went wide, "He says he wants to start a war between our kind and his. He's...EVIL. It's because we have killed his kind for years and we don't anymore. We really have changed."
She sighed, "That's why the mayor sent that dragon to kill you at your home. That's why the dragon tried to kill Sierra as well. Just to make it look like the humans killed her and the dragons would start fighting the humans in hatred and revenge. That's what it was all about."
I nodded, just registering what she said to me. Oh my god. The mayor's crazy. He can't fight the humans these days. She's right that humanity has changed, and so have our weapons. We have weapons that are more advanced now and dragons are of no match for them. We have fighter jets now and we have radars. The mayor and his hatred will get all the dragons killed!
We have to stop this from happening. I have to tell Sierra all this and do something about it. But first things first, I need to get Amanda out of here.
I grabbed her shoulders and asked, "Do you know where the key is?"
Amanda nodded and pointed, "They locked my leg with that key over there. I think this place was used by dragons to keep prisoners here years ago. I guess that's why that wooden box is there."
I walked to find the key on the ground and I picked it up. Then I walked back to Amanda and I crouched down to unlock the chain on her ankle. I inserted the key into the chain, turned it and the chain snapped open. I beamed.
Yes, it's unlocked! She's free!
Amanda kicked the chain out of her ankle and she stepped away from it. She looked at me and nodded, "Thanks Wayne. And how's Neal? Is he okay?"
I shook my head, "Not really, he has been looking for you all day and so has Sierra."
Amanda said, "Then lets get out of here. I hate this place."
I nodded in agreement and then I grabbed Amanda's hand and we jogged out of the chamber.
We jogged and jogged for a long time, until we both came out of the cave and out into the open. Amanda breathed a sigh of relief when she breathed in the fresh air.
I pointed straight ahead and said, "This way." Then me and Amanda started to jog away from the cave.
Before we could jog any further, The mayor and his black friend came out of the nowhere and landed in front of us. Amanda let out a high pitch scream.
I gasped and I looked up at them. Shit!
The mayor and his black friend glared down at me and Amanda. The mayor growled and said, "Well what do you know? Another human came out of nowhere and rescued his friend. I knew I smelled a rat before we left the cave. And your name's Wayne."
Me and Amanda backed away from them and the black dragon said, "Don't try to run away. You won't escape from us."
I held Amanda's hand tight. I tried to reach for the gun in my pocket and then the mayor growled again, "If you're trying to reach for a weapon, don't. Because I'll kill you straight away."
I glared at the mayor and said, "You won't get away with this. Me and Amanda know everything and we will expose you."
The mayor giggled and said, "You? A couple of meddling humans like you? Expose me? You gotta be shitting me? I am the mayor and you can't stop me."
The black dragon giggled as well, "That's right we will have our war and no human will stop us. Not even YOU TWO."
I shot back, "Come on guys! What hope do you gain from starting a war? What's the point?"
The mayor narrowed his eyes at me, "To take back our lands that we had years ago. I'm tired of my kind hiding from yours. It's time we take it all back."
I sneered, "Oh really? And you think that killing me and my family along with Sierra would start a war? It won't!"
The mayor's eyes went wide when he knew what I was talking about. Then he snarled, "That was the point! To make everyone in the dragon city think that the humans killed Sierra, I had to make it look like it. You see I wanted to kill you and your family so that way your blue friend would be so distraught and then my lackeys would kill her. Then my lackeys would have burned down whatever land you lived in and then my lackeys would fly back to the city and they would say that the humans killed Sierra. After all we always stand by our own kind."
Amanda sneered "You're sick! You're both sick! Even the dragon who attacked Wayne and Sierra is sick!"
The black dragon hissed at her, "That dragon who attacked your friends, was my friend. He may have been an idiot sometimes, but he was still my friend. And you human male and your bitch of a dragoness friend of yours have killed him."
I glared at him, "Funny considering he tried to burn down the house I was living in. Along with me and my family!"
The mayor sighed, "Well you two were lucky that dragon was alone, otherwise you wouldn't be here and my war would have started. But I'm sure there are other plans. Like...Make it look like you two tried to kill me and my friend here."
I gasped and shouted, "You can't do this! No one will believe you! I performed at the Braveheart twice. Everyone knows that I'm friendly."
The mayor said, "But not every dragon thinks that the humans have changed. Even I don't believe it. They wouldn't trust you no matter how hard you try. They know the humans and the dragons can't co exist together!"
I shook my head, "You're wrong. WE can co exist. WE have changed. WE all have."
The mayor snarled, "Liar!! I hate all of you humans! I hate you ALL!!!"
Me and Amanda backed a few more steps away from them and then I said, "What's wrong with you?! Do you think that killing humans is okay?"
The mayor shook his head, "Don't give me that crap, you think killing MY kind is okay? It never was!!!!"
I asked, "What's happened to you? What makes you want to kill humans really? Why? What's the point?"
The mayor had a look of sorrow shown in his eyes. He closed his eyes and sighed, "My reason....Is my life is ruined by your kind."
Amanda asked, "How did we ruin your life?"
The mayor opened his eyes and looked at us, "My mate died and it's all your kinds fault."
Both mine and Amanda's eyes went wide. Jesus.
The mayor went on, "You see...Me and my mate were all alone together, outside the city. Just having our time alone near a lake. That lake we have been to since we were hatchlings. But while I left her alone to go hunting, I heard a roar in the distance."
He sighed, "When I came back to her...It was too late." The mayor growled, "A bunch of dragon slayers came and killed her. And I'm certain she didn't do nothing to them. Humans are all the same, they view us as monsters and they kill us for it."
The mayor said, "I killed them all and after I did that, I wept over her body. She...She didn't even say goodbye to me. And me and her had a hatchling together. And he grew up without her."
Then he had a glare on his face and said, "A monster was born that night and it was ME. I became the humanity's true nightmare. I became the monster in the darkness. I tried to put up with the humans arrogance, but they killed my mate and my son's mother and that was the final straw."
The mayor went on, "Sometimes back then when I leave the city, I would see humans wondering around in the land that WAS ours. And I killed several of them. Day after day, they always keep popping up. I wanted blood, I wanted more blood than you could believe. I wanted war. More than once in all the years, I was getting close to accomplishing it. But one obstacle was getting in the way more than once."
I frowned at him, "What obstacle?"
The mayor hissed, "One human came to the dragon city years ago. One human started to change everyone's view on humans. Of course not everyone believed it, but nevertheless, HE changed their views."
My eyes went wide when I figured out who he was talking about and then I said, "Eric."
The mayor nodded, "Yes. That same blue dragoness that you're friends with brought that human to the dragon city years ago. I'm sure you know that by now. His kind nature brought a lot of dragons happiness. Even I named him a citizen in the city. But I was just pretending to care about him. I knew he was just a liar like all the humans. And he was playing their feelings for his pleasure."
I shouted, "Eric was never like that!"
He shouted back, "And so are YOU! You and Amanda are playing everyone's feelings! You're all liars and killers and I'm taking care of that problem right now!"
Amanda sneered, "We wouldn't do that! WE have feelings too!"
The mayor glared at Amanda, "And how I know that...It's because my lackey here saw you and that red dragon that you named Neal, being intimate with each other."
Amanda gasped and my eyes went wide. He sent his lackeys to watch us?! He really is crazy!
The mayor sneered, "You think you can act like us? You won't. Why? Because it's all an act. And you girl have played that dragon's mind and now he's loyal to your kind. What you and the dragon did was disgusting. You don't have feelings, you pretended that you did. He won't fight with me in the upcoming war and so he dies too."
Amanda gasped again and said, "You can't do this!"
"And the dragons who are loyal to the humans will die as well!"
I narrowed my eyes at him, "Look you don't have to do this. You can let the past go. I mean...Seriously! Do you think that your mate and son would want you to do this?"
He snarled at me, "You keep my family out of this!!! My mate's DEAD! And my son will not be brainwashed by YOU!"
I pleaded, "Don't do this. You can make it right." Then I looked at the black dragon beside him, "You don't have to do this either."
The black dragon shook his head, "Don't bother human. Your kind killed my parents years ago and now they're with our ancestors now."
Amanda cried out, "This is crazy! You can't win the war!"
I shouted, "Yeah, you can't win the war! I mean if you fight the humans who are different now, you'll all be slaughtered! Have you heard of radars? Have you heard of fighter jets?! The humans these days will kill you all. You're going to get everyone killed!!!"
The mayor shouted, "I won't let them get away with taking our land and living in it! I will kill them all! No matter how different they are now! I will avenge my mate! And I will avenge all the dragons who were killed by YOUR kinds hand!"
My eyes went wide. Oh no...He doesn't care.
No matter how hard you try to convince him to stop, he won't stop. Until he's dead. He doesn't care how much the humanity has changed. He'll start the war and attack anyways.
His hatred is more stronger than we think. He won't let other feelings control him.
He...Really is a monster.
I shook my head and said, "We won't let you get away with this. We'll stop you."
Both the mayor and the black dragon laughed and then the mayor glared, "Sorry to ruin your optimism, but you'll die right now. And you GIRL will die too. I should have killed you since last night. But you'll die now."
Amanda looked at me and said, "Wayne...I'm scared."
I nodded without looking at her, "Yeah, me too."
The mayor snarled, "Enough! Humanity has desecrated my kinds lands and after everything they've done. After everything humanity did. HUMANITY MUST BE DESTROYED!" He started to have smoke in his mouth. Getting ready to breath fire at us.
Both me and Amanda gasped. Come on Wayne, think! Both you and Amanda need to run!
Then all of a sudden all of us heard a voice and it stopped the mayor from killing us, "Stop right there father!"
The mayor gasped and he looked over his shoulder. I followed his gaze and I saw that the mayor's son is behind him and his black friend.
The mayor's son glared at his father and trotted toward him, "Don't do this father."
The mayor growled at his son, "Stay out of this. The humans here tried to kill me. I'm finishing that problem right now."
His son shook his head and said, "No father, I heard everything. I know they didn't attack you, you're killing them because you hate humanity."
The mayor said, "You don't understand son. They're just playing your feelings, they don't care about us at all."
His son said, "No, they do care about us. I know Wayne...He cares about us and he doesn't want to hurt anybody. And neither does the female."
The mayor snarled, "You are a fool! I told you for years that humanity is evil! And I told you that the blue dragoness is a human lover to one years ago!"
I gasped. Wait, he did know about Sierra's relationship with Eric years ago. That's why his son called Sierra human lover one time.
The mayor's son said, "Father, I don't care what Sierra and her human did years ago. So what? I believe we are all the same."
The mayor turned to his son and raised his paw to swipe against his son's face. His son crying out in pain. The mayor snarled, "You are blind! You are blinded by your own feelings! Your mother died because of them!"
His son shook his head after taking a hit and said, "I believe in what's right. And starting a war with humanity, won't bring mother back. I don't miss her like I used to. She would want me to live and I am. I won't let you kill them father. They're...My friends. I know I don't talk to them much, but I trust them. They're like us. Father please...Just let them go."
The mayor asked, "How did you find us out here?"
His son said, "Because a few nights ago, I noticed something was up with you. You had the blue dragon in our house and you were acting weird when I interrupted the conversation. And two days later I heard that a blue dragon has attacked Wayne outside the city. Coincidence? I think you were behind it father and I know that's the truth now."
The mayor's son pleaded, "Father, it's over. Mom wouldn't want you to do this. Please...Let it go."
The mayor just stared at his son for a few moments. His expression changed looking like he'll change. But then he put on a glare and said, "I will avenge our kind and you can't stop me." Then he whirled around on his son and he raised a paw to get ready to strike at me and Amanda.
Me and Amanda screamed. The mayor striked at us. But before the mayor could hit us, The mayor's son jumped in between his father and us and took the hit real hard. His father's paw striking him across the face.
Me and Amanda got out of the way before the mayor's son landed on us in a heap. He landed on his back and he's unconscious.
The mayor's eyes went wide and he said, "No!"
Then me and Amanda took advantage of the situation and we both ran away.
The black dragon saw us running and he shouted, "Boss, they're getting away!"
The mayor snarled, "GET THEM!" Then they started to chase after us. Both of them roaring.
Me and Amanda kept on running, running as fast as we could. We ran past the tress, the bushes. One time me and Amanda jumped over a log that was in our path.
We kept on running until we were running out of breath. Both of us were wheezing. I whirled around, but I didn't see any dragons chasing us.
I frowned. Where did they go?
I took the gun out of my pocket and held it in both hands. I pointed it at nowhere, just waiting to shoot at anyone in sight. Amanda came and hid behind me.
I breathed nervously. Just trying to stay calm. I could feel sweat pouring down my forehead.
Then I saw something big running past the trees and I fired one shot at it. I missed. Then I saw another big figure running in another direction and I fired two shots at it. One shot missed and another shot it a tree.
Amanda was breathing behind my neck. She gripped her hand on my shoulder.
I saw the big figure again and I fired again. This time I heard someone cry out in pain. I smiled to myself. Gotcha!
The one I shot at was the black dragon and he was trotting toward us with an angry expression on his face. I shot him in the shoulder and that didn't stop him.
I focused the gun at the dragon's face and I pulled the trigger. But there were no more bullets in the chamber. My eyes went wide. Shit!
Amanda had let go of me and ran off before the black dragon could get any closer. When Amanda ran, the dragon then swiped at me and knocked me away. I cried out. I lost the gun when he swiped me. I flew away from him about ten feet away.
I landed on my back with a grunt. I coughed twice.
Before the black dragon could come at me, I heard the mayor hollering, "No, go after the girl! I'll take care of the boy!"
The black dragon obeyed and he ran off after Amanda. I got up quick from the ground and cried out, "NO!" I tried to chase after the dragon, but the mayor came around the corner and stood tall over me. His wings flared, "Where do you think you're going human?"
My eyes went wide with fear. Amanda!
I backed away from the mayor and the mayor snarled, "You're dead!" He advanced toward me.
I whirled around and ran.
*****
Amanda kept running away from the black dragon, she screamed real loud. She yelled, "HELP!!!"
The black dragon still ran after her. Roaring at her. His paws hitting the ground hard when he ran.
Amanda tried to run some more and she tripped on a root out of the ground. Her foot caught in it and she cried out and fell.
Amanda landed hard on her stomach and she rolled over. The black dragon was on top of her in an instant. He used his paw to pin her to the ground. He growled down at her.
Amanda's eyes were wide with fear and she tried to push the paw off of her, but it wouldn't budge. She cried out, "Let go of me!"
The black dragon sneered, "You know girl...You look liked the type. If you were a dragon like me, I would take you to bed and mate you right now. Hear you cry my name in pleasure. But you are a human and you make me sick! All humans must die!"
Amanda cried out again, "No! Please, don't kill me! Please reconsider!"
The black dragon started to squish her down to the ground. Pushing down on her real hard. Amanda cried out in pain. He snarled, "Die you bitch!"
Amanda was starting to feel pain all over her body. She screamed in terror, "NO!!!!"
Before he could apply more pressure to kill her, Neal came out of nowhere and used his paws to knock the black dragon away. The black dragon cried out and he landed on his side.
Neal bared his fangs and shouted, "STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY MATE!!!"
Amanda coughed and sat up on the ground, she smiled, "Neal!"
Neal looked down at her and smiled, "Amanda."
The black dragon got up on all fours and glared at Neal, "I will kill you human lover!"
Neal looked at the black dragon and growled. Amanda got up and took cover.
The black dragon and Neal charged at each other and they started fighting. Roaring at each other.
*****
I got knocked away by the mayor and cried out. I flew about ten feet away from him and I landed hard to the ground.
I grunted after I landed and I got up in an instant. The mayor already came toward me and taunted, "What's wrong human? Don't want to give up yet?"
I glared at him while I was breathing heavily, "I'll never give up, NEVER!"
The mayor smugly said, "Ha! I'm a dragon and you're short and small. You can't fight me! You can't win!"
I shot back, "I won't let you destroy everything, you monster!"
The mayor growled, "Shut up and die already!" Then he swiped me with his paw again, but I didn't fly again. I just scrapped across the ground.
I laid on my back and sneered, "I won't let you start this war! You keep saying we're the murderers, but you're acting like one!" I gasped when he was close to me. I rolled over and crawled away from him.
The mayor sneered when I was crawling away from his, "You think your kind is better than me?! You're not! Dragons have lived longer than yours had! WE live longer lives than you do!"
I got myself cornered at a tree and I got up on my feet and whirled around to face the mayor.
The mayor glared down at me, "Are you done escaping me YET?!"
I just breathed heavily at him and he taunted at me, "Look at you. Off your prime. Humans really are weak."
I said, "I may be small, but I'm stronger than you think."
The mayor said, "You can't beat me and do you know why you can't win?"
I still just stood there breathing and he said, "BECAUSE YOU ARE WEAK! You know you can't win, so how about give up now?! And I'll make it easy on you!"
I snarled, "NEVER!"
He growled and screamed, "THEN DIE!!!"
That's when Cody came out in front of me and stood between me and the mayor. The mayor's face went wide and so did mine.
Cody growled up at the mayor and he flared his wings, "Stay away from my brother!"
The mayor laughed and shot up his head, "You think a runt like you can fight me? I'll kill you in a instant!"
Cody snarled, "I won't let you kill him! If you want him, then you'll have to get through me!" Then he held his breath and blew fire at the mayor.
The mayor dodged the flames when they were coming toward his head and he glared at him, "You missed me!" Then he swiped Cody away with a paw. Cody cried out. He started to roll on the ground upon impact.
I looked at Cody and screamed, "Cody!!!"
The mayor got his focus on me, "Now you!" But before he could do anything, Sierra ran her horns into the mayor's body knocking him away.
The mayor cried out and he landed the ground hard.
Sierra sneered at him, "How about pick on someone your own size? You piece of shit!"
I looked up at Sierra and smiled, "Sierra."
Sierra didn't take her eyes off the mayor and said, "Wayne, check on Cody now." The mayor then got up on all fours and hissed at her.
I did what Sierra said and I ran to Cody. I got close to Cody and I got on my knees. I could see he's still alive. He's breathing. He's unconscious.
The mayor still had his focus on Sierra and snarled, "You were always a meddler! You just had to push it, did you girl?!"
Sierra growled at him, "You know I never knew you were that kind of a dragon, but now...I see that you are."
The mayor smugly grinned at her, "Well me and you are so alike. A lot more than you think."
She cocked her head at him, "What are you talking about?"
The mayor giggled, "I became a monster for years. And so have you. You became a monster as well and I knew it all along."
Sierra's eyes went wide and she narrowed her eyes at him, "I'm not a monster, I never was."
The mayor said, "Oh really? Then how come you left the dragon city years ago? How come you haven't came back for a long time?"
Sierra hissed at him, "I'm in no mood for jokes."
The mayor said, "Well I know why. It's because of a fire. That's why you left. After all I made it happen."
Sierra cocked her head at him, "What are you talking about? What fire?"
The mayor evilly giggled, "The fire that changed your life forever. The one fire that made you a monster. The one that...Killed your human."
Sierra just stared at him for another moment and then her eyes went wide and gasped, "YOU?! It was YOU?! You were the one who killed Eric?!"
The mayor laughed and nodded, "Yes I did!"
While I was near Cody, my eyes went wide. What? It wasn't the king who killed Eric, it was him?
Sierra was still shocked and then she said, "No...It can't be you! It was the king who killed him!"
The mayor shook his head, "No it wasn't. I made you think that it was the king. You see you remember the shield that you found outside Eric's house? Well I was the one who left the shield behind for you to find. You see I got that shield from one of his knights who was patrolling outside the village. It was easy. That human was a weakling and he was begging me for mercy and I killed him anyway."
Sierra was pretty stunned by the revelation, "So it really was you?"
The mayor said, "Yes. You see I was the one who set Eric's house on fire. The damn human kept calling out for you for help and you were too late to save him. He wasn't as strong you thought he was." Then he giggled.
Sierra asked, "Why?"
The mayor glared at her, "Why? Because I hate humans and I hated what you and him were doing to each other. I saw you two kissing each other more than once. And it was sick! No human and dragon shall be together. It's not normal. The humans are weak and we are strong! You were being played by his feelings! Humans never had feelings!"
She snarled, "I loved him! And he would never have played my feelings!"
The mayor giggled again, "It didn't matter. I became a monster and I wanted another one standing beside me and it was you. I wanted you to think it was your fault that Eric died and I wanted to leave that shield behind to make you think that the king was behind the burning and it wasn't. It was all me."
She asked, "So you left that shield behind, just to make me a monster?"
The mayor nodded, "And it worked perfectly! You just snapped and you flew to the king's castle and you've slaughtered all those knights and that king. It was worth it. More humans died by your claws. And another monster was born."
Her eyes went wide and she shook he head and said, "I'm not a monster."
The mayor smiled, "Yes you are. You're just like me. Once a monster, always a monster."
She shook her head, "No asshole, you're wrong."
The mayor's eyes went wide and Sierra went on, "I have feelings. Even after I killed the king and his knights, I still felt something else other than hate. I also learned from my mistakes, the mistakes that I've made. Apparently you never learned any. And the other reason how I know that I have feelings? The other reason is because I love Wayne. He may not be Eric, but Wayne will always be my love."
The mayor glared at her, "Humans are monsters. They never had feelings, and Wayne doesn't have any."
Sierra sneered, "He's not a monster and I'm not a monster, YOU ARE!"
The mayor rolled his eyes, "You really are stupid. Letting your loyalty to the humans blind you. Fine! If you won't fight in the war with me, then I'll kill you too along with your human lover. First of all, I'll kill him first. To make you watch his death like you didn't save Eric. To make you suffer for your loyalty toward human kind."
She growled, "I won't let you kill him! I wasn't there when you killed Eric, but this time I'm here! I won't let it happen again! I won't let you kill someone else I love!"
The mayor got into his fighting stance, "Then lets finish this. If you win, I'll die. If you lose, Wayne dies."
Sierra got into her fighting stance as well. Her wings flaring, "I will not lose, and this is for Eric!"
The mayor roared at her and he lunged at her. Sierra backed away in time away from him. Sierra then made a swipe at his face. The mayor dodged and he swiped back. Sierra dodged as well.
I dragged Cody away so we can take cover from the fight. I watched the fight as I dragged Cody.
Sierra....
*****
The black dragon swipe at Neal's body and his claws made a big scratch on his body. Neal cried out in pain.
Then the black dragon used the back of one of his paws to swipe Neal across the face. Neal stumbled away from him. Neal shook his head from his daze and growled.
The black dragon blew fire at Neal and Neal dodged by rolling to this side, then Neal got on his feet and blew fire back at him.
The black dragon dodged the flames by jumping away from the flames. The black dragon then charged at Neal and hit Neal with his horns real hard in the chest.
Neal wheezed upon impact and he fell backwards. Fell hard on his back. The black dragon got on top of Neal and pinned him to the ground.
Neal squirmed under him and the black dragon roared at him. The black dragon then grabbed Neal's head and started to bash his head against the ground hard. Neal crying out in pain.
Amanda came out of cover and waved her hands, "Hey you!"
The black dragon heard her voice and looked over his shoulder. He growled at her. Amanda stopped waving her hands and shouted, "Leave him alone!"
The black dragon looked down at Neal, his eyes closed. The black dragon smiled in triumph and finally let go of Neal's head and got off of him. Pretty much after Amanda now. He began to advance toward her.
Amanda started to back away from the black dragon, until Neal actually got up on his feet without the dragon knowing and pounced on the dragon's back. Now Neal pinned him to the ground. The black dragon started squirming underneath Neal, but Neal won't let him go.
Neal bared his fangs and dug his jaws into the back of the black dragon's neck. The black dragon's eyes went wide with surprise and fear. Neal opened his mouth and put a paw and shoved the dragon's head to the ground and bit down hard into his neck again. Blood coming out. The black dragon tried to wiggle free still.
Neal put his other paw on the dragon's neck. And with the help from his jaws, Neal snapped his neck.
The black dragon died instantly. Then the dragon lay motionless underneath Neal. Neal finally removed his jaws from the dragon's neck and Neal got off of him slowly. Breathing heavily.
Neal just stared at the body until he heard Amanda, "Neal!"
He looked over his shoulder and smiled at her, "Amanda." She ran to him and he lowered his head to her level. Amanda wrapped her arms around his neck for a hug. He smiled when she did that.
Amanda pulled herself away from Neal. He said, "Are you okay?"
Amanda nodded and started to have tears in her eyes, "I was afraid I wouldn't see you again."
Neal said, "So did I." He raised his head and said, "Come on, Wayne's probably in trouble still."
Amanda nodded in agreement, "Lets go save him."
Then they both ran to find Wayne.
*****
Sierra swung her tail at the mayor's head and he cried out in shock and pain. The mayor hissed at her, "You bitch!"
Sierra swung her tail at him again and this time he dodged it. Lowering his head beneath it. Then he lunged himself at her.
Sierra dodged by flying and I saw her flying high into the air. The mayor flew after her. Now I could see they were fighting over the trees. The mayor flew straight at her, blowing fire at her. Sierra dodged to her left in the air and the mayor collided with her.
The mayor and Sierra started to bit and claw when they were that close in the air. Sierra and the mayor both roaring in pain.
Then I saw in shock and fear that the mayor got the upper hand and he somehow got on top of Sierra's back and then they both started to fall out of the sky.
I cried out, "Sierra!"
Both dragons landed in a heap real hard to the ground. The impact caused dust to blow out in all directions and I shielded my eyes with my arms.
When the dust finally cleared away, I uncovered my face. And saw Sierra and the mayor are still on the ground.
I cried out again, "SIERRA!"
Sierra groaned and she raised her head slowly. She got on her feet, one paw at a time and finally got up off the ground. She groaned again and shook her head. She finally saw me with Cody and said, "Wayne."
I smiled at her, but then it melted away when I saw that the mayor already got on his feet behind her and he was advancing at her.
I screamed, "Sierra, look out behind you!"
Before Sierra could move, the mayor pounced on her back and Sierra cried out in shock.
She snarled, "Get off!"
The mayor bared his fangs and he dug his jaws into the back of her neck. Sierra roared in pain. He bit off some flesh off her neck, and he raised his head. Then the mayor clawed at her body while he was on top of her. Leaving big claws marks on her body. She cried out in pain.
I gasped. NO!
Sierra started to wiggle beneath him, until she used the back of her head to headbutt the mayor in the nose. The mayor cried out in pain.
Sierra then used her shoulder to shove him off of her. She got the mayor off of her and she got on her feet once more.
Sierra was shaking now, after the mayor bit his jaws hard into her neck. Blood was rolling down her neck. The claws marks didn't bleed much.
Sierra and the mayor squared off at each other and they both got into their fighting stances.
The mayor's mouth started to smoke and so did Sierra's. My eyes went wide. They're going to blow fire at each other.
First the mayor blew fire and then Sierra did at the same time. Both their fire breaths collided and now they're still blowing fire at each other. Both of them blowing fire continuously. Only one fire breath will prevail.
The power of the mayor's fire started to push back Sierra's. Then Sierra's fire pushed back the mayor's. They're both still breathing fire.
Sierra apparently was starting to get tired of breathing fire. Her fire power is getting weaker. She can't hold on forever.
As I watched the whole thing, my mind was whirled with thoughts.
I have to help her, but what can I do?
Then I heard Cody groan and he got up slowly since he got knocked out by the mayor. Cody shook his head and looked at me, "Wayne? What's going on here?" Then he saw Sierra and the mayor still blowing fire at each other. Not letting up.
His eyes went wide, "Sierra! I have to help her!" Then he ran to her side. Sierra noticed, but she didn't stop doing her thing.
Cody held his breath and then he blew fire along with her. His fire breath combining with Sierra's and his collided against the mayor's too.
Sierra and Cody held on, not going to let up.
I shouted, "Just hold on guys! Don't give up!"
That's when I saw that even Cody helping out didn't help Sierra at all. The mayor's fire started to push back against theirs. Now he's winning.
Sierra and Cody both groaned while they were breathing fire.
That's when Neal and Amanda came and saw what's going on. Neal looked down at Amanda and said, "Take cover Amanda!"
Amanda did as he said and ran to where I am. I held her tight and I shielded her from the scene.
Neal ran to Sierra's side, Sierra in the middle of Neal and Cody now. He held his breath and let it out as well. Blowing fire along with Sierra and Cody. His fire combining with Sierra's and Cody's. Now their fire power together is stronger than the mayor's. Their fire starting to push back against the mayor's.
The mayor couldn't hold on forever and soon his fire power started to grow weaker and then Sierra's fire pushed furher at him.
The mayor's face went wide and finally the fire consumed him and he screamed, but it didn't last long. The fire went though his body and his body fell down in a heap. Until he was nothing, but bones.
Sierra, Cody, and Neal stopped letting out fire out of their mouths and they were all breathing heavily.
The fire finally cleared away and they only saw bones in the mayor's spot.
Me and Amanda just stood there now. I unshielded her and she looked at the dragons. She asked, "Is he?"
I smiled and said, "It's over."
Amanda looked at me and smiled, then she hugged me. I hugged her back.
Sierra, Cody, and Neal looked at us and they came to us. Cody beamed, "Guys!"
I let go of Amanda and then I hugged Cody. Wrapping my arms around his neck. I laughed, "We did it pal!"
Amanda hugged Neal and they both smiled.
Sierra came to me and Cody and she lowered her head to my level. She smiled at me. I let go of Cody and then I kissed her nose. I pulled my head away and said, "Girl...The way you guys blowed fire at him for a long time, that's incredible!"
Sierra giggled, "I haven't blowed fire like that in years."
Neal laughed while he was being hugged by Amanda, "Neither did I!"
Cody giggled, "Well that was the first time this has happened to me."
I looked at Cody and said, "Well it's a good thing you helped out Sierra. Thank you."
Cody shrugged, "She would have done the same for me."
Then the mayor's son came and found us. He had a concerned look on his face, "Is everyone ok?"
I nodded at him and said, "Yeah...It's over now."
The mayor's son cocked his head, "Where's my father?"
Sierra sighed and said, "He's dead."
The mayor's son had a glum look on his face and said, "Father..."
Sierra had a pity look on her face and said, "I'm really sorry for your loss."
The mayor's son waved her off with a paw and said, "Don't be, my father couldn't let go of his past and it destroyed him. I'm very sorry everyone for what happened. If I knew what my father was up to, I would have stopped him. This whole thing wasn't worth it at all."
I smiled at him, "We know you're not like your father. You're better than him. You can still make a life for your own."
Cody cocked his head, "I wonder how we will tell everyone this? Who's going to be the new mayor of the dragon city?"
The mayor's son said, "I'll take his place. I'll be a better mayor than my father was. I won't be like him."
Amanda smiled at him, "Your mother would be very proud of you."
The mayor's son smiled and nodded, "Thank you."
Then all of a sudden Sierra groaned in pain and she fell down on her stomach. All of us gasped and I with a worried look on my face asked, "Sierra, what's wrong?"
Neal saw the wound on her neck and he gasped again, "No...She's wounded!"
Amanda eyes went wide, "God he's right! She's losing a lot of blood. She's really wounded! It's deep!"
My eyes went wide, "Sierra?" Then I looked at everybody, "Guys, we need to get her help. She needs medical attention."
Amanda looked up at Neal, "Neal, does your city have a hospital?"
Neal cocked his head at her, "Hospital?"
I shouted at Neal, "Shit, you don't have a hospital!? She needs help now!"
Sierra cried out to me, "Wayne?"
Then I went to her head and hugged it. I said, "It's okay, Sierra. We'll help you."
Amanda asked, "But how? Dragons don't have medical supplies like we do. And they don't have hospitals like we do."
Dragon blood does have excellent healing properties, but it's not helping her any if she's losing it. She won't last forever. We need to get her real medical help.
That's when an idea popped in my head. That's it! Sierra and I need to go find a human town and go to a hospital!
It's risky since she's a dragon, but we don't have a choice. She'll die if we don't help her. That's a risk we're willing to take. She's a human like us.
I said it out loud to her, "Sierra, can you still fly?"
Sierra nodded and asked, "Why?"
I said, "We're going to a human town to get you help."
Sierra's face went wide, "What?! But I can't-"
I shouted, "Sierra, you'll die if we don't do something now! Please, we have to fly to one right now. Please for me!"
Sierra looked a me for another moment and then she nodded, "Alright Wayne." Then she rose her body from the ground. I grabbed her wing joint and hurled myself over her back and sat on it.
Neal cocked his head at her, "Are you sure about this?"
Sierra nodded, "Yes Neal, we have to do something. Humans have more things than we do. The humans can help me. Look it's a chance I'm willing to take."
Neal nodded, "Then I'm coming with you."
Amanda got close to Neal's back and said, "Me too."
Cody said, "Count me in as well!"
The mayor's son had a worried look on his face, "I don't think it's a good idea. I mean, what if the humans-"
I shouted while I was on Sierra's back, "My girlfriend's dying!"
The mayor's son's face went wide and then he sighed, "Alright, but I'm going back to the city. Have to tell everyone what happened to their mayor. Just be careful, you hear?" Then he flapped his wings and flew over the trees.. Heading back to the dragon city.
I looked at the back of Sierra's neck. God, she's still bleeding and the wounds deep. Oh man, the mayor really got her good. We have to help her NOW!
I tucked in my legs, "Come on Sierra, lets go!"
Sierra said, "Hang on!" Then she started to flap her wings. Amanda already got on Neal's back and he started to flap his wings too. So did Cody and we were all flying off the ground. We are over the trees now.
And with a burst of speed all of us fly forward and we are flying over the trees.
Hang on Sierra. We'll save you.
Just hang on.
*****
We flew for a long time. We flew far away from the dragon city and away from the mountains. Now we were flying over the woods beyond the mountains. Sierra's breathing hard and fast. I could still see the blood still coming out of her neck.
I had a guilty look on my face. This is my fault. I should have helped her...
No, no it's not. It's not your fault. Sierra's still alive. She'll make it!
Neal was flying next to Sierra with Amanda on his back, while Cody is flying ahead of us.
Then straight ahead beyond the trees I could see lights on the ground. They look like town lights. I could see a town up ahead. While I was still flying on Sierra's back I pointed and shouted, "There's a town up ahead guys!"
Neal shouted, "Yeah I think I see it!"
I shouted to Sierra, "Don't worry Sierra, we're almost there!"
Sierra shouted over the wind, "Wayne, I'm starting to feel tired!"
My eyes went wide. She must be dizzy because of the blood loss. We need to hurry. I shouted to Sierra, "Fly faster! Hurry!"
Sierra flapped her wings harder and harder. Gaining speed. Neal catching up to her. While Sierra was catching up to Cody. He flew below her, letting her pass him.
We were getting close to the town now. The lights not far away. Soon we were flying over the town now, just circling around.
I shouted to everyone, "Alright, lets fly low over the buildings! Just watch where you're flying!" And with that we flew down to the town and we were flying over the buildings now. Just low enough for human pedestrians to see us flying.
I looked down and I could see that several people are still up during the night. A lot of people were screaming at the sight of dragons flying. Oh boy. This is not going to go well.
But I won't let Sierra die. I won't.
Then soon I could see a big building that said hospital not far away. I pointed and shouted, "There it is! Fly to that building!"
Amanda shouted, "Lets go guys!"
We flew toward the hospital building and then suddenly Sierra started to fly weird, like she was weak and tired. Oh no...Not now!
Sierra then started to glide lower to the ground and I screamed, "Sierra NO!" We crashed in the middle of the hospital parking lot, after we crashed I fell off of Sierra's back and I landed hard on the ground. Good thing there weren't a lot of cars right now. Sierra could have done some damage to them.
I groaned and got up off the ground and looked at Sierra. Oh no, she really looks bad. I ran to her and when I got close to her head I said, "Sierra, are you okay?"
She looked at me and weakly said, "Wayne....I'm scared. I feel...Cold."
I touched her nose, "Don't worry we'll get help now, we're here."
Neal and Cody landed behind me and Amanda got off Neal's back. They ran to us, worried looks on their faces. Amanda got close to her head and cried to Sierra, "Mom! Please talk to me!"
Sierra looked at Amanda, "Amanda...I love...You."
Amanda shook her head, "Please hang on!"
That's when we all heard a scream not far from us. We looked at the direction of the scream and saw a woman near her car freaking out when she saw Sierra and the dragons.
Neal muttered, "Shit."
I ran to the woman and when I got close to her I said, "Hey wait it's okay! It's alright, they're friendly."
The woman who looked really freaked out asked, "What the hell are those things?!"
I ignored her question and asked her, "Are you a doctor?"
The woman frowned at me, "What? No, I'm not! I'm just a nurse!"
I grabbed her hand, "Listen to me okay? I need your help, someone's wounded and I need to show you, ok? Just come with me." Then I led her to Sierra.
The woman was so wide eyed when she got close to the dragons and when we got close to Sierra and her wound on her neck, I said, "Listen this dragon needs medical attention. I need doctors to help her right now! Can you get some doctors and help her?"
The woman stared at the wound and looked at me, "What's going on here? Where did they come from?"
I let out a frustrated groan, "Yes okay? They're dragons! They're FREAKIN DRAGONS! And they're REAL, now can you help this one or not? She's dying!"
The woman stared at me for a moment and nodded, "Well...Ok, just wait here. We'll try to help this...Thing." Then she ran to the hospital building, leaving us alone.
I could hear the police sirens in the distance. My eyes went wide, "Oh....Shit." Then me and the others can see several people surrounding us. Guess they followed the flying dragons all the way to here. Well they're all in a shock of their life.
All of us looked at the surrounding citizens. All with wide faces. Several people using their phones to video record us. Several people mumbling words, wondering where did the dragons come from?
Cody's face went wide and so did Neal's. Cody exclaimed, "Wow...That's a lot of humans."
Neal rolled his eyes without taking his gaze off the crowd, "Well what did you expect?"
Cody shrugged, "Nothing much, I guess."
Several police cars arrived and several police officers got out of their cars and pointed their guns at us. Well at the dragons of course.
My eyes went wide. Well everything went from shit to fucked up.
Amanda raised her hands high in the air, "Wait! Stop! Don't Shoot!" Then she ran and hugged close to Sierra, "Please guys, don't kill her!"
Sierra mumbled, "Wayne...What's going on?"
I said to her, "It's okay girl. Everything's okay."
One of the officers shouted while brandishing his gun at the dragons, "Get away from them!"
Neal's eyes went wide, "Oh shit."
I looked at the crowd and the police officers. I have to do something. Sierra protected me, now I have to protect her. Because I love her. Against all odds, I have to protect her. I have to protect Neal and Cody too. I saw a car very close to us and I ran to it and I climbed on the roof of the car. I stood tall on top of it and I hollered at the people, "Hey everyone!"
They didn't pay attention to me. Then I put two fingers to my mouth and whistled.
This time everyone including the officers are now looking at me. All eyes on me.
I looked at everyone and hollered, "Listen to me! They're not what you think they are!"
The people mumbled and I went on, "Look...I know what you're all thinking and quite frankly I don't blame you. But you have to believe me, they're not a threat!"
They had bewildered faces and I went on, "You see...They're dragons. Yes, dragons are real. They have been real since the dawn of time. They have lived for a long time."
The people quit mumbling and I went on, "Dragons are real, and I know that you think that they're monsters, don't you?"
Several people nodded and several simply said yes.
I said, "But they're not! Because they never were! Look they look like monsters, but they're not! They're people!"
They all had quizzical looks on their faces and I said, "Look for years, they have always been mistaken for monsters. People like us have mistaken them for their appearance. Even I did! But I don't anymore. They're...Different than you think."
One person shouted, "What are you talking about?!"
I said, "Look the reason why I think that is...They live like we do."
I took a deep breath and said, "Everyone...Has anyone always tell you that animals have hearts as well like we do? Well this is different with dragons, they live like we do. They have a city to live in, they have a society, they have stores, they have restaurants, they even have religion like we do! They even talk like us! They even have feelings like we do. They act like humans!"
Neal shouted, "He's right! We do live like you!"
The people had wide faces when they heard Neal talk. I heard some of them say he talked.
Cody shouted as well, "The human's right everybody! We're not a threat! Our friend here is dying and she needs help!"
Several people gasped and I shouted, "You see what I mean? They do speak, they do act like us! They have been for so many years!"
I sighed, "Listen everyone...There's a sad story I need to tell you. Dragons are always mistaken for monsters and several of them have died, because of our kind. A lot more than you think. Because we never understood them! We're always afraid of them first, before we get know to them and that's why they die all the time. And do you know why they have their own city, do you know why they don't leave their city all the time?"
Everyone looked at me and I said, "Because they don't feel accepted by us! We're always judging them by their appearance! But we don't look at them on the inside! They may look different, but the truth is...They're not! They're humans beneath all those scales!"
Several people I heard said aw and a lot of them had sad looks on their faces. Even the officers, who have lowered their guns.
I said, "There's a dragon over there, a blue one and she's dying! And...Me and my friends care about her. She has been through so much before we were all born. She used to feel so happy and she has been through so many traumatic stuff! And her name's Sierra!"
They had wide faces and I went on, "Yes....Dragons even have names as well. But they don't speak their names because we don't understand them. They even have names like we do people!"
I sighed, "I know that most of you won't understand them like me and Amanda do, but believe me when I tell you all this! We are all the same! We all are! They don't deserve mistreatment by our kind, they deserved to be accepted. We always turned our backs on them, but we shouldn't anymore! Because it's not fair!"
Several people now have pity looks and I said, "I honestly feel so sorry for what their kind has been through. To live in secret from the outside world. But in all honesty, I don't tolerate it. Even they feel pain like we do."
I put a hand to my chest, "Don't you think they all deserve kindness and acceptance by us? By humans? Even they're people like us. They have hearts like we do."
Amanda came to the car and got on top of the hood and stood tall like I did on the roof. She said, "Wayne's right. They do have hearts!" She pointed at Sierra, "And that blue dragon...Is my mother."
Most of the people's faces went wide and Amanda went on, "Because my real mother died! And Sierra has always accepted me as her daughter. Even dragons have families!" She pointed at Neal, "That red dragon right there, his name's Neal and he used to have a girlfriend before she died." She lowered her hand, "He wanted to have a family and his mate died. He has felt alone for years! And you think they deserve more mistreatment and hatred?" The people mumbled and Amanda shouted, "No, they don't!"
I said, "I know that several dragons from the dragon city say they don't think there can be co-existence with our species. But that's not true, I beg to differ. I think we can co-exist. I think we can accept each other. So please people, please just give the dragons a chance. Make them feel accepted. No more hatred. No more animosity. No more anything like that! Because they have been through enough! Our kind has evolved and we can accept change. What's your choice people? Do you accept them, or do you hate them? Which it is? Because me and Amanda accepted them, when will the humanity do that? Because I think it's about time we do that."
The people just stared at me and Amanda and then I asked, "You still don't believe us?"
They didn't answer and I said "Well I'll tell you what everyone. I'll sing a song to you, I'll show you all that dragons have emotion. If I sing, then they'll sing along with me. Neal and Cody will. Amanda can, if she wants. If you see them singing, then that mean they do have feelings. I know you want to know that, well here it goes. I'm starting right now."
I cleared my throat and started to sing slowly to the crowd, tapping my foot in rhythm, "Just a small town girl! Living in a lonely world! She took the midnight train going anywhere!" Then I pointed at Neal, "Come on Neal, you can do it!"
Neal had a nervous look and then he sang slowly, "Just a city boy! Born and raised in South Detroit! He took the midnight train going anywhere!"
Cody with a smile on his face sang slowly as well, "A singer in a smokey room! A smell of wine and cheap perfume! For a smile they can share the night!"
Amanda joined in, "It goes on, and on, and on, and on!"
Then all four of us sang slowly together, "Strangers, waiting! Up and down the boulevard! Their shadows, searching in the night!"
We kept on singing, "Streetlights, people! Living just to find emotion! Hiding, somewhere in the night!"
Then we all stopped singing and we all just stared at the crowd. Waiting for their response. They kept staring at us, until finally someone in the crowd started clapping. Then another person and another and another. Until the whole crowd started cheering. I smiled at the scene. I think...They trust Sierra, Neal, and Cody now. I think they accept them.
Amanda looked at me and smiled as well. While the crowd was still cheering. I looked at Cody and Neal and they're surprised by the whole scene that falls before them. I giggled.
Cody looked at Sierra and his face went wide and he hollered at me, "Wayne, it's Sierra!"
I gasped. No! I jumped off the car and I ran to Sierra. I got close to her head and said, "Are you still there?"
Sierra looked at me and smiled at me, "Wayne...What you just sang, how you convinced everyone here that we're not monsters...It was nice."
I smiled at her, "Yes it was. But when you make it out of this...I'll sing to you every night if you want. I would sing to you all night." Then I looked away and hollered, "Hey where's that doctor?!"
Sierra coughed and said, "Wayne...I'm cold."
I looked at her and had a sad look on my face, "Sierra please hang on a little bit longer. I don't know what's taking them so long, but I'm sure they'll come for you, I promise."
She said, "Wayne...Promise me that you'll go on with your life....Promise me that."
I shook my head, "Don't talk like that. You'll be alright. You're safe now and everything's going to be fine."
Sierra said, "I know and I have protected you for the last time. And...Still...Thank you for...Being with me...For giving me your love like Eric did." She looked up at the stars, "At least...I might see my parents and Eric again...I might even meet the human Joanna up there, I get to meet your best friend."
I started to have tears fall down my face, "Please don't say that. You don't have to thank me, you didn't have to. You won't die. You still have a life ahead of you. You said to me you're not going anywhere." No, my dream can't come true. It can't!
Amanda came to me and Sierra. She had a concerned look and said, "Mom?"
Sierra looked at Amanda and said, "Neal will take care of you...Daughter. I promise you he would. He's...A great guy. I never had a daughter before...And I love you...I'm sorry it has to be this way."
Neal and Cody came to us as well. Neal had a sad look, "Sierra?"
Sierra looked at Neal and said, "You were always my best friend. The best friend I could ever hope for.....Thank you Neal...Thank you."
Neal had a worried tone in his voice, "Sierra?"
She looked at Cody and she giggled, "And you...You little green runt...You're a great kid. And I'm glad I've met you."
Cody just stared at her, with tears falling down his face. Amanda shouted, "Where's the damn doctors?!"
Sierra looked at me and said, "Tell my uncle...I love him and he was the best uncle I ever had. And tell...Joanna...I said goodbye."
I shook my head, "Shut up! You'll live!"
Sierra smiled, "I'll tell...The human Joanna that you said...Hello Wayne."
I shook my head again, "No, I want to be with you forever!"
She said, "Wayne..." Then she slowly leaned her head close to mine and she kissed me on the lips. No one else could see it since their view is blocked by my friends.
She pulled back and said with love in her eyes, "I love you, Wayne." She coughed again and then she slowly laid her head down on the ground and she didn't move.
Our eyes went wide with fear and I shook my head, "No...No!" Then I grabbed her head and shook it, "Wake up! Wake up!!!"
Amanda touched her body and her skin turned white, "Wayne, she's not breathing!"
I started to cry even more harder than before. Neal shook his head, crying as well, "No...Not her." Then he shut his eyes tight.
I screamed really loud for a doctor, "HELP! HELP! SOMEBODY HELP HER!!!"
No she can't be dead. I...I loved her.
Don't die Sierra....
Don't leave me.
