KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

Author's Note: Naryawen is a Noldor name from Tolkien's Arda Mythos -- the world of Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit.  It means fire girl.

Naryawen enjoyed running.  It was a bright sunny day and Naryawen, a charmeleon pokémorph, was running through the park in Pewter City.   About 16 years of age, she had nice breasts -- about a cup C -- and a nice athletic figure.  She wore hot pants and a sports bra while she ran through the park.  She smiled as she ran, the flame on her tail glowing brightly.

“This is such a great day, nothing could ruin it!” she said to herself as she ran through the park.  She passed other people and morphs that she knew and waved to them.  Yes, it was the best day.

“Hey Naryawen,” said a human runner.

Naryawen said back, “Hi Simon!”

“How are you enjoying this bright sunny day?”

“It’s so good, I feel lucky every day and everything is going my way!”

“Still hoping to get a trainer, huh?”

“Yeah!” she said.

“Have you any luck?”

“Not really,” she said, but her eyes sparkled.  “I really want to train for some big athletic event where I can get a gold medal!”

“Sounds like a pretty big dream,” said Simon.  “Do you know what kind of athletic competition?”

“What does that matter?” asked Naryawen.  “I just want to be recognized at a great Athletic event!”

Then there was that boom.  “What was that?” asked Naryawen.

Simon exclaimed, “It came from the Pokémart!”

“Father!” said Naryawen.  She started to run towards the pokemart.  Simon had little time to register when she started running.   “Hey, Naryawen, wait for me!” he said as he ran after her.

In about ten minutes they made it to the Pokémart, only to see a young man about one year less than her age deploy three pokeballs against some humans wearing a black uniform with an X on their left breasts.  One of the released pokeballs produced a Spearow, another a Totodile, and another a naked ninetales pokemorph.  “What’s going on?” asked Naryawen.

“It looks like a battle between that boy and Team Xaos,” said Simon.

“Kelly, use all of your forces!  Felix, use water gun!  Ace, use Aerial Ace!” said the boy.

She watched as the yummy, powerful ninetales morph jumped at one of the grunts of team and gave one of the Team Xaos grunts a nasty, vicious bite.  Blood was running from the bite as the man screamed.   She watched as the boy fight against Team Xaos as his spearow attacked a growlith that was herding a totodile female morph.

Simon said, “What is that?”

Narayawen looked over and said, “No, Father and little Quincey!”

Her father, another Charmeleon pokemorph and her brother were caught in a ring of ice spikes.  Two of Xaos’ pokeballs flew over to them and hit them.  They opened and asborbed her father and little brother into themselves, leaving their clothes behind.  “FATHER!  QUINCEY!” she cried.

“Look!” said Simon.  Naryawen looked and she saw that the Spearow was actually using gust.  A spearow using gust?  But there it was, using gust to blow the sand away.

Then she saw the Ninetales morph jump up and gather a fireball into both palms of his hands and from them came a swarm of embers.  Many of the humans from Team Xaos were hit by the missile barrage of Ember.   Then the team grabbed their pokeballs and retreated, and their big ship left the Pokémart.
Naryawen was shocked.  She was shaking and she tried to hold herself still.  Simon tried to console her.  “Naryawen, there was nothing you can do.  I’m sorry about your father and your brother, but there was nothing you can do.”

“I just stood there, and watched them,” she said.  “Being taken.”

“There was nothing you can do . . .” Simon said.  Naryawen turned to the boy who was talking to the Pokemart personnel.

"Thank you for saving Misako's life," said the totodile morph employee, Gorojiro, to the boy and then he turned to the ninetales morph.  "I'm sorry for being so solemn about the rules here.  But those were the rules."
The ninetails morph answered, “Oh, think nothing of it.”

“You, young man, the management wants you to have this,” said the employee.  “Our way of saying thanks, it’s on the house.”  The employee passed a technical machine that was in a syringe.

“Naryawen, what are you thinking?” said Simon.

“That boy was willing to stand up to Team Xaos,” she said.

“What do you mean?”

Naryawen said, “How many pokemon trainers were in there?  How many could have fought them?  That boy alone was willing to show courage.”

Simon said, “Wait, don’t get rash.  If you go over there and ask that boy to train you, you might find yourself into something you might not want.”

The boy said, “Well, a pokémorph being trained by a human is partly marriage, and partly slavery.  I don’t know if there are a lot of pokémorphs that would give up their freedom like that.”
The totodile woman then returned, “You’d be surprised.”

“Well, yes, if you say so!” the boy joked.

“See? He said it’s partly marriage and partly slavery, why would you give up your freedom like that?  Don’t you know what you will be giving up?”

“I don’t care,” said Naryawen.  She jumped over to the rubble, and walked right up to the boy and said.  “My name is Naryawen, please accept me as a pokémorph pet and train me!”

“What the?” said Mike, a female charmeleon asking him to accept him as a pokémorph pet.  Dressed in nothing but hot pants and a sports brassiere.

“Speak of the devil!” said Misako.

“Why is this happening to me?” Mike asked Kelly.  Kelly just shrugged.

“Please accept me as your pet, I’ll train real hard for you,” she said. “I’ll work hard. Please, I saw how you train your pokémon.”

“Uh, excuse me? There are laws against taking pokémorphs as pets out of the blue,” said Mike.  “You need parents’ permission first.  It’s like marriage and slavery rolled into one, Naryawen.  You might not see your family again.”

“I’ll be good for you,” she said.  “I promise, just train me, please!  I can cook, clean, and be a good team member.”
Mike looked unplussed at this -- if he didn’t relent, he wouldn’t be breaking the law.  If he did claim this young woman as his pet it would mean slavery for her and something akin to marriage, he would also be breaking some laws.  But it was now or never.

“Okay, okay, I’ll have you as a pet,” said Mike.  “But I’m going to the Indigo League, so I might use you to compete.”
She smiled a huge joyful open smile.  Mike took out a pokéball, threw it at her.  As it opened, she jumped into the light, absorbed into the pokéball.  The ball fell, and there was the familiar rocking motion, and suddenly the familiar ping and the light went out.  “You’ve got me into terrible trouble, Naryawen,” said Mike as he picked up her pokéball.

He turned to the employee, “Can I have another favor?”

Kelly was smiling as Mike put on the leather collar with the stained glass flame charm.  “There, all done,” said Mike.

“I love it Master!” said Kelly.  “It fits so perfectly!”  Kelly hugged Mike.

Kelly continued, “Now it shows that I’m truly owned, completely!  Oh, thank you, thank you Master!  You’re the best friend and Master I’ve ever had!”

“I didn’t know you were into collars,” said Mike.  “I thought you were surprised that you had to wear a collar.”

“Yes, but it was a gift bought by you and given to me, I’ll treasure it always!” he smiled as he said that.  He also blushed.  “It’s been the best day ever!”

“We still have to go to the Pewter City Gym,” said Mike.  “We still have to do battle with Jet.  Naryawen, come out!”
The pokeball was released, to reveal Naryawen in her toned, feminine curves and her large muscular tail with a fire on it.  She too, was nude.  She had claws on her fingers, but her feet were like those of Kakuru.  She blinked once at Mike, and smiled.  The vulpine Kelly growled low.  “What seems to be the problem, Kelly, can’t you be friends with
Naryawen?” asked Mike.

“I don’t trust her,” said Kelly.  “She might have you all to herself.”

“Kelly!” said Mike in an assertive voice.

“Yes, Master?”

“Naryawen is part of our team now, and I won’t have you be jealous of her, do you understand me!”

“Yes, Master,” said Kelly.  “But we are best friends!”

“Enlarge your circle of friends,” said Mike.

“Hi, cutie,” said Naryawen, going over Kelly.  “Mike says you and he were best friends.  Can’t you include me in your little family?”

“Err, no comment,” said Kelly.

“You sure act like one of the girls, why can’t you share Mike with me, hmm?”

“I really don’t know about that!”

“Surely, there is room in Mike’s team for both of us, hmm?”

“On one condition,” said Kelly.

“What’s that?”

“Mike sleeps with us both.”

Mike placed his hand to his head and said, “Oh brother.”

Mike took out the choker with the red gem in the middle.  “Okay, the management at the Pokémart said that you would be happy to have this as your collar.”

“Oh, really, I love it!” she said.  Mike took it out and placed it around her neck.  Totodile danced for joy and Spearow flew around and around.  She had a face of joy and she closed her eyes.  Naryawen had found a trainer who can get her into a sporting big league, even if it was the Indigo Pokémon League.

The Pewter City Gym.  It was out of the way, not in the city proper.  But there was beautiful landscape around it.  But it was mostly certain plants planted around rocks.  The rocks were arranged into dolmens and cromlechs, there was even a circle of standing stones around the Pewter City Gym, with the path bisecting the circle and the gym in the center.

“Boy, things have changed since Ash was here,” said Kelly.
Ash again.  Mike tried to ignore it.  But why did he feel like he was always being compared to Ash Ketchum?

“Oh, Jet had the Gym landscaped,” said Naryawen.  “He wanted a more desert look to the city, to celebrate the city’s culture around rocks.  He did it two years ago.”

“I wonder, is Jet related to Brock?”

“Jet is Brock’s youngest brother,” said Naryawen.
Mike said, “Oh, brother.”

Still, Mike entered the gym.  The gym was empty, there wasn’t a lot of people inside the Pewter City Gym.  What Mike was happy for that there wasn’t a sign that said, “Ash Competed Here.”   Well, it’s a gym, he thought.  They are into attracting opponents.

“Hello?” he asked, with Kelly and Naryawen behind him.

“Hello there,” said a voice, and a light shined on.  There was Jet, black haired and wearing black clothes.  “It’s supposed to be my day off from accepting trainers to train their pokémon.”

“I’ve come to challenge you to a Pokémon gym battle,” said Mike.

Jet then said, “Ah, a pokémorph trainer.   How many pokémorphs do you have?  Two?  And they are both fire types.  Well, at least they have collars on.  This is a two on two battle.  Choose your Pokemon wisely.  For me, I choose geodude.”

Jet released a pokéball and out sprang a geodude.  It was a floating boulder with two arms and two five fingered hands.  “Geodude, geodude,” said the geodude.

Mike said, “Well, I choose Kelly!”

Kelly, the ninetales morph, came out on the gym.  “Very smart, a fire type vs. a ground-rock type.  So, lets introduce the terrain,” Jet said as he snapped his fingers.

On cue, the ground changed into a desert terrain with a lot of rocks.  Mike scanned geodude with his pokédex.  The pokedex reported, “It climbs mountain paths using only the power of its arms. Because they look just like boulders lining paths, hikers may step on them without noticing.”

“Becareful, use only your martial arts, Kelly.  They are resistant to fire,” said Mike.
Kelly said, “Right!”

“GEODUDE, ROCK THROW!” said Jet.
The geodude picked up some rocks and started throwing them.  Kelly had to block the attacks or dodge them.  He finally jumped up and kicked Geodude, forcing it to the ground.  Geodude got up, shook it off.
“Good geodude, now smack down!”

“GEO-DUDE!” the geodude catapulted itself into the air and came down hard on Kelly.  Forcing Kelly to be knocked back.  “Ow!” he said. “This guy is getting very powerful.”

“What else can we do, Kelly, just do the best you can.”
Kelly recovered and ran up and kicked geodude with a flying right kick.  The geodude was forced down with great force that it was dazed.  “Geodude,” it said.

“Geodude, return!” said Jet.   Geodude was absorbed back into it’s pokéball.  “Well, your ninetales kitsune is certainly a good martial artist.  Knowing how rock types are resistant against fire.  But still, nothing compared to Onix.”
Jet released a pokeball, which released a giant snake made up of various boulders.  Onyx just roared.  It growled menacingly at Kelly.  Kelly’s eyes blazed with determination.

“Kelly, return.”

“What, Master?” asked Kelly.

“I’ve got a surprise for Onix.  Just return,” said Mike.  Kelly backed down and stood at Mike’s right hand.  “Okay, Felix, time for you to go!”

He released Felix’s pokeball, and out popped Totodile.  The Totodile danced playfully and then stopped and got serious.  “Toto-dile!” Felix said.

“A totodile?” said Jet.  “Nevermind, it’s no match for Onix.  Onix tackle attack!”

“Felix, water gun now!” said Mike.  Felix released a mighty water jet from it’s mouth, which splashed into Onix before it could tackle it.  Onix roared in pain, trying to withstand the water, but it couldn’t take the water.

“Onix, no!” said Jet.  “Onix, burrow!”

The Onix dug down into the ground to avoid the water jet. “Be careful, Felix, you don’t know where Onix will pop up next,” said Mike.  Felix looked around, trying to guess where the Onix would pop up next.  Then a mound started to appear under Felix and Onix burst forth, roaring, under Felix.

“Felix, scary face!” said Mike.

“Totodile!” said Felix as it made it’s scariest face and put all of it’s emotion into it.  Onix saw Felix’s scary face and retreated back, hiding it’s eyes.

“Now, Felix, water gun!”

“TOTODILE!” exclaimed Felix as it released a superb jet of water from it’s mouth.  The jet was mighty enough to cause Onix to break up into several boulders.  Kelly and Naryawen cheered for Mike.

“ONIX!” Jet yelled in concern.  But it was too late, Onix was down for the count.  “Oh, Onix.  Well, Mike, that was a good battle.  You’ve trained your Pokémon pretty well.  You deserve this boulder badge.”
Jet held out the boulder badge to Mike.  “Well, thank you,” said Mike.  He took the badge and added it to his new collection.  “That was an intense battle.”

“Gym battles are supposed to be,” said Jet.  “I’ll be seeing you later.  Oh, and be careful.  Three of the gym trainers out there are Pokémorphs.”

“I’ll be careful,” said Mike.  “What are they?”

“Sorry, it’s a trade secret,” said Jet.

Soon, Mike walked with his two pokemorphs -- Kelly and Naryawen.  They were walking out of Pewter City on the way to Cerulean City.  With Kelly, Mike, and Naryawen laughing on the way.
“That was an intense battle, Master,” said Naryawen.  “You’ve used good strategy.”

“But still I have to find out what you can do, Naryawen,” said Mike.  “So we will begin your training tomorrow!  As for you, Kelly, you have to train too.  After all that machoke challenged you to a battle and you have to be ready.”

“Right, Master!” said Kelly.

Behind them, with rocks trapped in a net strapped to its back, jogged the machoke.  He was determined to beat Kelly this time and prove to Kelly’s trainer that he was worth training.  “Someday, ninetales, someday!” he said with determination in his voice.
