“The wolf on the house!"
Kevin smirked at the customers and lowered the tray he was holding, flexing his arm at them. “At your service." he said, bowing slightly.
They took their drinks. “Thank you!"
He gave them a salute and went back to the bar to take more drinks.
Really, working here was not bad at all. Great, even. He got to flex here and there and no one would tell him off. The customers also never touched him unless they asked, which they actually did quite often. He was more than glad to provide.
Several customers also asked him about private sessions, but he turned them down politely. While it'd been about three weeks he worked here, he still wasn't sure about that, especially pole-dancing. Vilkas had been teaching him, but it was apparently a lot harder than it looked. He knew that Vilkas was flexible, but he had no idea just how flexible the husky actually was. That gave him ideas… lots and lots of ideas…
He wondered if Vilkas could do self-suc—
“Three whiskies and one beer for table 17, and four cocktails for table 24." Vilkas said curtly and dropped the glasses on his tray.
Kevin smirked and gave him a mock salute. “Be right back, boss!"
The husky just gave a dismissive mrf.
Walking away to the designated tables, Kevin laughed. The jealousy was strong on that one. It had only been about two weeks, yet he was already going head-to-head with the husky, and so far, he was winning. Although, it was either that, or the husky was jealous because he was being flirty with the customers, or the husky was jealous because he and Octo were going out.
Oh yeah, he told the husky that he and Octo were going out. So far, the reaction from the husky was, rather unexpectedly, jealousy. Maybe that was because they could no longer hook up? Kevin was sure of that.
Well, that was something he'd like to think about some other time. Also, Vilkas looked cute when he was jealous. The customers liked it when he flirted with them, so how could he say no? Besides, if they were giving his tips, why should he stop it?
He delivered the drinks to the tables, giving some grins as he did so. The red wolf then went back to the bar and sat down on the stool next to Vilkas. Jeremy handed him a glass of water which he gulped down quickly. “Heh, got 10 euros."
Vilkas rolled his eyes. “13 euros. Beat me."
“Aw, man, you work till midnight."
“So I reckon you won't beat me, not?"
A jackal seated themselves next to Kevin and put an empty glass down. “16 euros in three hours. Beat me."
Before he could retort back, Lolita told them to get back to work. Kevin only groaned. “C'mon, cheet, we're just having some drinks!"
“That 'we're just having some drinks' is why you should get back to work!"
Vilkas only gulped his drink down. “He meant water. Sorry, the wolf is a bit undereducated."
He shoved the husky playfully. “Eh, fuck you."
“Yeah, yeah." The cheetah only shook her head good-naturedly. “You two, get back there. Kevin's been delivering drinks all over, get a five-min rest, wolf."
“Thanks, cheet!"
Vilkas grumbled under his breath, but Mike took his arm and walked away, giving the husky's head a pat as he did so.
With Vilkas and Mike gone, Kevin leant forward on the bar and called Jeremy to refill his glass. Work was tiring, but enjoyable. He looked at the dance floor; probably he could get even more tips if he joined people dancing there. Or maybe not. Will seemed to have taken an interest in him, so he had to keep it to himself lest he make out with the rat in the music booth.
He shook his head and smiled, gulping his drink after Jeremy refilled it.
“Hey, yote!"
Someone sat on the stool beside him and gave a deep breath. Kevin glanced at him and saw a black canine—a coyote, according to that nickname. The coyote took his jacket off and ran his hand through his head fur and fluff. Kevin couldn't help but sigh as the coyote's scent hit his nose. “Jeremy, please don't call me that."
“But that's cute!" The bear laughed. “You live in Barrowisle. You should get used to it by now. So, the regular?"
“Yeah, the regular. I know, but I don't think I'm ready for that just yet. I mean, back home, you call someone by their species and you can get reported for being speciesist."
Jeremy put a glass of beer in front of him. “Anyway, been a while since I last saw you here."
“Sorry, work's been too tiring. That overlong meeting is over but instead we got more stuff to do at the office." He gulped the drink. “Today is the first day I'm not dead after going home."
“That's rough. Anyway, you know the drill." The bear winked at him.
“Sure."
Kevin gulped his drink empty. Really, it was just a little past 19 in the evening, but the place was already almost full. He sighed and closed his eyes, glad for a bit of break. He was about to slump on the bar when someone whacked the base of his tail, making him jolt in surprise. “Ouch!"
“Eh, sorry, sorry." The coyote beside him said.
Kevin turned to him, noticing the coyote's tail wagging furiously. That was apparently the thing that whacked his tail. “You're gonna kill someone with that helicopter blade, man." He said with a smile. The coyote looked handsome and wild, and his figure looked hot inside that shirt; he liked it.
The coyote looked away, his tail wagging died down. “Sorry. It's just… it's been a while since I had some beer."
“Heh, I feel ya. Name's Kevin, a wolf, I'm new here."
They shook hands. “Just… uh… call me Lucas, a coyote."
“Lucas, huh? Handsome name for handsome yote."
For a moment, he felt bad for saying that thanks to the coyote's reaction when Jeremy said that, but the coyote only looked away and… blushed? He would say the coyote blushed, but his ears didn't go down. “T-thanks." Lucas took a gulp from his beer. “So, um, you're new here? As in a new waiter?"
“Yep. If you need anything just shout my name." He grinned. “Or moan it, whichever way you swing to."
“I-I'm sorry?"
He sat up straight and turned towards the coyote, unknowingly showing his torso to him. “Anyway, you just got home from work?"
The coyote glanced at his face, then rather discreetly down at his body, then gave a weak mrf and sipped his drink. His ears went down a bit and Kevin held back a chuckle. “Yeah. It's been tiring."
He wanted to put his hand around Lucas' shoulder, but maybe that wouldn't be welcome for now. Instead, he just leant back forward on the bar when he realised that he was showing off. “You come here often?"
“Sometimes." replied the coyote before letting out a huge sigh and leaning forward on the bar. “I've been pretty much used to Jeremy over there."
Jeremy apparently heard that from the other end of the bar. “Hey!"
They chuckled.
Lucas muttered something unintelligible, then turned to him and smiled. “No wonder I've never seen you before. When did you join?"
Kevin wanted to snicker at him, but that curious smile was just too precious. Instead, he smiled back. “About two weeks ago."
“Ah, nice." The coyote nodded. “Nice." He looked over the dance floor, then waved at someone. The wolf couldn't see who was waving at him. “Eh, I think I'll go over there."
“Sure. Enjoy the night."
“Jeremy, can you keep my jacket?"
“Sure thing! Just put it there."
Lucas smiled and nodded at him, then stood up and walked to the dance floor. Kevin only watched him go, admiring his body from behind. His tail was wagging softly as he disappeared into the crowd.
His own tail started wagging.
Something was then put down on the counter, making him jump a little in surprise. He glared at Jeremy who was smirking above a casket. “Stop staring at his tail and give me more booze, wolf. Mike knows which ones."
“Yeah, yeah. Mike, c'mere!"
Said jackal, who was talking to someone near the entrance, turned to him. “In a bit!"
The wolf rolled his eyes and took the empty casket. “Why don't you put the bottles near here?"
“Ran out of 'em." The bear pointed at the shelves; Kevin looked at them. The middle shelves containing the bottles for more advanced drinks were almost empty.
“Alright, what is it?"
Walking away, Kevin beckoned him to follow him. “Jeremy told us to get more booze and that you know which ones."
They walked close to the wall into the back rooms through the crowd. After going through the door, Kevin let out an audible sigh. “Lots of people there."
“I think ye're used to it by now."
“Yeah but I think there's more than just the usual."
Mike shrugged. “It's Friday."
“…right."
They went inside the beverage storage room. At the smell, Kevin furrowed his eyebrows. “This room smells like you can get drunk just by standing in it."
The jackal laughed. “Anyway, I can't believe ye flirted with Lucas." He shook his head in amusement. He took the casket, putting the empty bottles away before putting new ones in.
“Why not? I mean, he's kinda cute."
“I know." He chuckled as he gave the full casket to Kevin. “He's Vilkas' regular, though." He took one empty casket from a pile in a corner of the room and filled it too.
“Whoa, husky's got a regular?"
“He's got a lot, actually." The jackal returned with another full casket. “C'mon." When they were outside, he continued. “So, anyway, ye swing which way, wolf?"
Kevin shrugged. Mike seemed like a good guy for him to share it. “I'm gay, but also straight for pay."
“That's an interesting way to say it." The jackal chuckled.
“But don't tell anyone about it, 'kay? Especially Jeremy. Still wanna make him think that I'm off-limits."
“My lips are shut. Hey, ye free on Monday?"
Kevin looked at him. “Yeah, why?"
“Ye mind going out with me to buy more jeans?"
At that, he leered. “Trying to get me to bed, are we?"
Mike laughed. “Mate, I'm straight."
“That's what they say before they get bent over."
“Nah, don't worry, I'm not trying to get you to bed. Bet you can't even make my bed properly."
Kevin just laughed, then opened the door to the main room. He still got two hours more of work.
Kevin looked at the large clock under the big sign of the train station. It was a little bit past 10; Mike should be here soon.
The wolf sighed and took his phone out, leaning on the wall on the opposite building. He didn't plan to work on Saturday and Sunday yesterday, but Octo sadly got stuff to do, so he decided to just go to work because he had nothing to do at home anyway. Being boyfriends with Octo was actually pretty good. Despite his refined air, the panther was nice—well, as nice as he'd like to be—which made him disappointed because they couldn't spend time on the weekend, which also meant they didn't have sex yesterday. Even more so, they didn't do each other every other day, just whenever the panther felt like it—which wasn't that often. Somehow, Kevin felt like Octo was testing his lust.
So, here was he, very horny, feeling like he really wanted to go somewhere and look for someone he could ram into the bed.
Apparently, including a certain jackal who was walking towards him, an easy smile on his face. Mike waved at him as he approached. “Hey, sorry if I took so long."
The red wolf gave a mrf and looked back at his phone. He had to admit, Mike looked good.
“C'mon, you angy?"
Kevin rolled his eyes at that. “You weren't jerking off to me, right?" He said with a smile and pocketed his phone.
The jackal laughed. “Trying to get me to bed, are we?"
“You don't know." Kevin only grinned.
“I don't wanna know." Mike grinned back and pushed him into the station. “C'mon, walk in front of me. I still love my arse."
A rather uneventful train ride later, they were in a mall. Kevin just followed the jackal while sometimes looking at his backside. To be honest, Mike wasn't bad-looking, kind of hot. He was a nice balance between lean and muscled. Like Octo.
Kevin gripped his face and felt his lower part perk up in attention. Ugh, really, he needed some release. Instead, he ran his fingers through his hair. He was pretty sure his fluff looked like a mess now because he forgot to comb it.
Although, the wind would probably ruin it anyway.
Kevin just pocketed his hands and kept following Mike to a clothing store. He stared at the jackal's back; Mike's ears looked like Max's, tall and pointy, only more slender, which was cute in his opinion. He had two small piercings in the shape of rings near the base of his right ear.
The ears were an easy way to tell the five canid subfamilies. If the base was wide and the tips not pointy, it was a wolf. If they looked like wolf's ears but somehow bigger compared to the head, it was a coyote. If they looked bigger and taller compared to the head, it was a fox. If they looked big and the tips pointy—or shaped randomly—it was a dog. If they looked tall, taller than dogs but with a narrow base and usually unfurred inside, it was a jackal.
However, it was a different thing with wolf-like dogs like huskies and malamutes and wolf-like hyenas. He thought of Vilkas; no wonder people mistook him as a wolf, he really did look like one. Even he mistook him the first time they met.
“Kev, ye're quiet."
“Hm?" His ears flicked. “Too busy thinking about you."
Mike quickly walked behind him and pushed him forward while laughing nervously. “Mate, seriously, ye're creeping me out."
Kevin snickered. “Bet you did things with Vilkas already."
“Well, we tended to customers, helped Jeremy restock the bar, bought some supplies, combed each other's fur, you name it."
“Which part of the fur?"
“His fluff. And my back." He chuckled and continued before Kevin could speak. “No, I won't hear whatever in that dirty mind of yours."
Kevin laughed.
They walked inside a shop. Mike took two pairs of jeans, brought them to the cashiers, paid for them, took the bag, then went outside.
Kevin was too flabbergasted. “What the fuck?"
“What what fuck?"
“You did not just fucking do that!" The wolf pointed at the bag, then at the jackal. “You took five minutes to get two pairs of jeans and you fucking asked me to go with you?!"
Mike just shrugged, ignoring the dumbfounded wolf. “I already know which ones I'll buy anyway."
“So why did you ask me to go with you?! What do we do after this? Get something to eat?!"
“Yeah, that's Kevin alright." A voice made the duo turn around. There was Vilkas walking towards them, a bag in his hand. Lolita was beside him and grinning amusedly at them.
The jackal just crossed his arms. “Hey, Vil. I wistn't that thou also go to the mall today. And you too, cheet."
Kevin only stared at them in disbelief.
Vilkas booped his nose. “I think you broke him."
He swatted the hand away. “You planned this, didn't you?!"
“Why would I? I just went out to, I don't know, hang out with Lolita here or something. I didn't know you're also going out with Mike." The husky grinned suggestively at him.
Kevin facepalmed. “We're not going out—"
“Didn't know the jackal also swing the other way." The cheetah chimed in.
“Also, jack, here." Vilkas leant close to the jackal and whispered something to him. Mike's eyes went wide for a bit, then looked at him in understanding. “'Kay?"
“Aye, mate."
“Aye. We're gonna get something to eat. See you around." Vilkas nodded at them, then walked away with Lolita.
“Hey, wanna grab some ice cream?"
Leaning on the wall, Kevin's fur bristled, wondering if they planned this just to spite him. Well, spending time with Mike wasn't really that bad, though. He was a great guy to hang out with. It was just—
Kevin yelped when Mike jabbed his side. “Fuck!"
“Ye wanna grab some ice cream?"
He looked at the jackal, furrowing his brows, then shrugged. “You're paying."
“Yeah, yeah, sure. Come on, I know where to get a delicious one."
Kevin just followed the jackal, wishing he wouldn't run to Vilkas and Lolita again.
At least there would be ice cream.
