Gift Art #5
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
This is a birthday gift for a friend. It was on the 3rd, so I’m rather late with this upload.
We, by that I mean my friends and me, are all Naval nerds. And when the birthday boy started making this character. I immediately loved the concept. And it was a pleasant surprise when my friend introduced me to the media that helped inspire this character for him.
His character was a challenge to draw. I not only wanted to see how much I can push myself and my confidence in my skills. I also wanted to bring the character to life in a dynamic form as well. But as I was looking for references. I was suddenly tasked with helping my younger sister study for her exams at the time. I was rather disgruntled by it. But I didn’t let that stop me. I juggled my time between tutoring my sibling and learning how to draw the pose I settled on. It took me a proper week and several sketches to finally study and draw the pose without much trouble.
And once my sister finished her exams. I got right to work immediately. As I had two friends whose birthdays were just a few days apart. Thankfully, I was able to juggle my time fully and finished the gift art for one of my friends in just three days. Said gift was the previous artwork I uploaded around… two weeks ago.
The pieces of machinery on the character were some of the hardest details I had drawn thus far. It was a challenge that I happily tackled with glee. I’ll admit to having a few headaches looking up the references and sketching out the perspectives of the pieces of machinery. But when I was done and fully colored the artwork. All I felt was the satisfied grin that made my jaws ache for a few hours.
