KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
Wallet? Check. Passport? Check. Ticket? Check. Distraction? Check. It’s been seven times this morning I checked my traveling kit, and I have everything. Now, I forgot nothing, but I’m often paranoid when I travel, so I do it anyway. Even if my baggage’s still open, everything’s already tidy, but I’m still watching. Well, all is okay now. TOC! TOC! TOC!

“Yes?”

“Hi, are you busy?”

“Nope, I just finished tidying my stuff.”

“How good. Otherwise, concerning last night—"

“Don’t worry about that, mister, I forget you.”

“Oh, alright.”

“No, here, it should be me who should apologize. I mean, I insulted you last night.”

“It’s true, but me too. We must say the tension was mounting last night, and we all lost our temper. So, no need to apologize. Then, let’s act like adults, and let’s move forward... Alright?”

“Err… alright, as you say.”

“Nice. Oh! Before I forget, I’d like to give you this.”

He then held a metal box out to me, which seems to be a cookie jar, according to the drawing. But I suspect something fishy here.

“Mr. Watson, you know if it’s a disguised way to give me money, I’ll decline.”

“Of course. But there, there are pastries on jars. You seem to love my cookies, so that’s it.”

Now, I stare at him suspiciously, and he grins. You know, the kind of smile we’re doing when we hide something, but we don’t want to show it.

“Hmm… so can I open now?”

“No! No! No! Otherwise, it wouldn’t be a surprise.”

Come on! What’s the surprise, if I already know what’s in the box? I’d like to insist, but considering the behavior of the guy, it would take a while before having a real answer. Thus, I let it happen, and I took the box.

“Okay… I accept your gift, BUT ONLY ‘cause your cookies are great.”

“Hehe, glad to hear that.”

Suddenly, Gill put her head on the door, and announced: “Hi there! Max, are you ready?”

“Yes, just one second.”

Time to stow the box, and close again the baggage. CLIP! CLAP! Now, I’m ready.

While a feminine voice announced to the passengers going to a random gate for checking-in, the two mustelids went through the customs. By seeing this scene, both knew time of goodbyes was coming.

“Well, it’s the end of the line.”

“Yeah. Indeed.”

“Hey Max…”

“Hmmm?”

“I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me.”

“Oh, it’s nothing, I only did my job.”

“Also, about the talk we had last time.”

“Y-yes?”

“You’ll find someone, I’m always confident about this.”

“Well, thanks… I guess.”

Once again, she hugged him without warning. And once again, he let her do, because even he’s been through, it’s really a good person. During this embrace, she noticed far away a familiar face. A Samoyed dog, to be precise. “Alice?” She let out, astounded.

Without noticing, she dropped the ferret, and went to meet the canid. And even Gill arrived next to her lover, she still didn’t believe her eyes. “Hey, you look like you’ve seen a ghost. So… how are you sweety?” Alice asked, joyful. Near tears, she held the Samoyed in her arms. In response, she did the same.

From there he was, Max didn’t know what both girls were talking about, but all he saw smiles, laughter and tears. Then above all, a tender kiss which was the peak of their reunion. “Well. It’s official now, I have nothing else to do here.” He though, by going to the customs.

Suddenly, he stopped dead by hearing someone calling his name. He turned around, and saw the two, which Gill, who waved to him, to approach. A bit embarrassed and confused, he went through two women, smiling cheerfully.

“Well, there’s no need to introduce themselves.” Gill commented, amused.

“Indeed… Max, I suppose?”

“Exactly. Nice to finally meet you.” Max held his hand to Alice.

“Shared pleasure.” Alice shook his hand.

“I imagine you didn’t miss anything on the subsequent course of events?”

“Not the least. It’s actually when I heard what happened recently, I decided to go there.”

“And you weren’t aware about it?” He asked Gill who nodded immediately. “It’s insane.”

“Yeah. My only regret here, it’s not coming sooner, I could’ve thanked you formally.”

“No, I mean, you took so many risks, whereas we don’t know each other too well. It’s… it's really admirable what you've done for us.” Alice confessed, moved.

“I repeat, it’s perfectly completely normal.”

“Also, I’d like to give you, by way of thanks.” Alice took an envelope out of her bag.

“No, it’s kind, but—"

Just as he was about to decline her offer, it cut him off by the feminine voice who announced this time: “Ladies and gentlemen, we continue the boarding for flight DL1312 to Miami. We are now inviting economy passengers, to proceed to gate seven. Economy passengers, gate seven. Thank you.”

“I’m afraid you don’t have plenty of time, Max.” Gill underlined.

“Argh… Very well, I’m going to accept, but know that I do it reluctantly.”

“No worries. Use it well.” Alice advised him.

“Hey Max, don’t forget what I’ve told you before.”

“I remember that. Well… goodbye ladies.”

While they watched the ferret leaving, Alice held the weasel around the waist.

“Shame that I couldn’t meet him sooner. He really seems charming as guy.”

“Yes, he is.”

“Oh, at this point?” Alice asked, curious.

“Yep. I even think if we had never met, I should probably be with him.”

Feeling a slight wave of jealously in the canid, Gill reassured her, teasing: “Oh, don’t worry. It’s true, he’s cute, but what we have is special, and it can ever be the same.”

Then, realizing it’s silly to be annoyed because of small feud, Alice replied: “Yeah, you’re right. You know that? It doesn’t matter. Now, the most important, it’s to be together, isn’t it?”

“Yes, exactly.”

“Well, before going to see the pater, how about having a snack?”

“With pleasure.”

“However, I don’t really remember much of the place. Do you mind if I follow you?”

“No worries.”

And both left the airport, hand in hand.
