2017 Drawing
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
💫 Here’s your reminder: 💫
*ALWAYS* take pictures of your work, even if you think it isn’t good, you aren’t selling it, or it’s just for your eyes only. There is no guarantee that something won’t happen, a picture shows some evidence it existed once upon a time instead of only existing in your memories.
I never felt good enough to post my art, I didn’t take photos of it because “it wasn’t good *enough* to deserve it”. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
I’ve been creating for as long as I can remember, the earliest piece I still have is from when I was 6 with a cat obsession (which is only thanks to my nana keeping it stored away in a forgotten closet; it is the only piece pre circa 2020 that still exists of my work). I spent years honing skills, practicing mediums & different subjects. I had tons of personal work, fan art, & school projects that I poured my soul into; years upon years worth. Work that despite being self conscious, I was still proud to have! In 2018 due to difficult life situations all of that work went into storage. During that time, that storage became flooded & filled with mold resulting in me not only losing my things due to the mold damage but every single piece of art that had been in that storage unit. In the blink of an eye over 14 years worth of art was gone, art that I had never gotten photos of because I didn’t think I was good enough/that I would always have it with me so there was no need.
I never thought it would happen to me or that if it did I wouldn’t care but it did happen & I did care. I cared a *LOT*, just because you don’t think it can happen doesn’t mean it won’t. Folders & pieces can become lost or damaged, files can be corrupted, nothing lasts forever. Back your files up in 2, 3, or even 4 different places; take as many photos of your work as possible even if it’s over kill. You never know what you have till it’s gone.
This is one of the only photos I have of any art pre circa 2020 that was in that storage, this from 2017.
