Painted Gasmask: Kauko (Version 2)
Fast as lightening, the cheetah can be an elusive one. Seems that our previous king cheetah got away from its owner and we got commissioned to do another one. At the start, a darker base coat was chosen, going more towards ochre.
When it comes to doing a recreation of an existing paintjob, I do take a more rigid approach. The white areas around the eyes and muzzle were first, with my paintbrush being what is the organic difference while recreating Kauko's mask. When looking away from the drawn references and towards the pictures of my previous king cheetah paintjob I noted the same "spot direction" seen when I was initially painting it. As a fellow spotty cat, I took solace in the spots. Using a combination of the customer's reference images and the previous mask, I worked to put each spot back as accurately as possible.
