BACKGROUND:

Born in Düsseldorf as an elf in the 2010s, Franz Welker grew up watching videos of Hans and Franz and Arnold Swartzenegger, Rambo, Rocky, and Hollywood Hulk Hogan but he also saw an old documentary on Steroids, and wanted to be like physically powerful (he was not devestated when he found out that they were comedy stereotypes).  So, uncharacteristically for an elf, he started body building.  He body built because he was bullied and hazed at school, mostly by orks who called him "fLöwenzahnfresser" (Dandelion eater, an orkish insult to an Elf).  He would constantly get into fist fights, fighting for his elven heritage.

He coasted through school as a fighter and a wrecker, defending his blood and his family from ork and troll bullies.  He eventually joined the German Army as a close combat as well as ranged combat specialist, becoming one of the new German janissaries (the German equivalent of British Commandos and U.S. Rangers in the Awakened Sixth World).  During his time in the German army, he started a new family with a fellow elven lass and life was good even through the changes of the 2030s and 40s.  Then the Shadowrunner phenomenon broke out in America.

While Shadowrunners such as Dodger, Runs-with-Deer, and KHAM became popular icons among the youth, this bothered Franz.  It bothered him that common criminals would try and destabilize the world that he loved and be idolized for it.  When his own son became a shadowrunning elven decker, it drove him nuts and he pushed his son out the door, effectively disowning him. 

Franz's son (who took the name Aranyaner -- Sperethiel for Free Man) soon made the big score, however, and bought a Castled hotel in Vienna where he resides to this day.  Franz was bitter about this, and he grew to be a strict father about where his other progeny would take their time.  And in time, his three other sons joined the army and his only daughter Arabella was sent to Cambridge in England.

Then the Year of the comet fell upon Franz.  While sitting down to dinner after being exposed to a mana storm during War Games; he started to have a siezure.  His body was changing!  His ears all but disappeared and all of his hair fell out.

Distraught, his wife took him to the hospital where they placed him under observation and explained to his wife he was undergoing Sudden Unexplained Regessive Genetic Expression or the SURGE.  While under observation, he grew a lizard tail, his skin developed green and orange scales, a lizard's muzzle (actually a Dienonychus' muzzle), his feat and legs rearranged themselves to be digitigrade, and he grew a raptor's claw on both of his feet.  His hands also developed into claws.  His gentals changed and withdrew themselves into his body leaving a cloacal sheath.  Finally his eyes took on a lizard-like quality.  He then fell into a coma.

Distraught that her husband turned into somekind of humanoid dinosaur, his wife -- Freya -- had herself divorced and found a younger, luxurious elf from Tir Na Nog for company.  His luxuriously rich son whom he disowned, was the only one at his bedside.

When he awoke, Franz found out that he was given a conditional Discharge from the jannisaries and Aranyaner was the only one at his bedside.  Aranyaner told him the news that he suffered from the SURGE and because of the trauma, his mother divorced him and married another. Angry, Franz hated himself.  He told his son to go away.

Franz took on a low lifestyle and started living in his van behind the local body building gym where he trained in anonymity.  He never took anabolic steroids after the change, his body was producing a higher concentration of Testostrone than the usual male elf.  His body pumped up better and stronger.  And while still defined while flexing, his muscles had more of that bulge.

Outed during a fight with a troll who was making fun of an Elf in the gym, people started pushing him out of society violently.  To find acceptance, he started practicing Freikoerperkultur.  However, most clubs found him to be too much of a monster and finally he was driven from the clubs.

Faced with no other option, he contacted Aranyaner, who had survived Matrix Crash 2.0 (he wasn't jacked in -- he jacked out 2 minutes before the horrible crash). Franz, through Aranyaner's connections and only wearing only european briefs, a hat, and a rain coat, had managed to find his way to North America.

Franz was immediately picked up by slavers at Kennedy Airport, however.  His German citizenship didn't protect him at all as they simply sweeped up and kidnapped him before those who were truly waiting for him could get to him.

They smuggled him all over North America, advertising him as a bodyguard.  No one bought him, even after they exposed his "assets" to other potential buyers and peddled as a slave that could be used for other purposes than just bodyguarding.  Franz was grateful that no one bought him.  Until he was bought by that Yakuza and saved by Robert Deckard at almost the cost of Robert's life.

Ironically, now he is running the Shadows that his son, Aranyaner, is running.  He just laughs, thinking of the cruel irony of it all.  He would blame it on the SURGE that turned him into "this."  But that's him now, and people fear his appearance.  He might as well submerge in the Shadows were he can do more good than harm. 

 

APPEARANCE 

Franz is a humanoid Dienonychus -- although he is often termed a "Scaly morph" or "lizard morph."  He is mostly green scaled with orange scaled patterns.  A body builder, Franz has Arnold Swartzenegger's physique when Arnold was doing Conan the Barbarian.  When he flexes, he has a beautiful, greek sculptured definition.  Despite this, Franz's body is also incredibly supple. 

He is a digitigrade biped, held in balance by his muscular balance tail.  No trace of his Elven lineage is left except his muscles cannot get insanely huge and his suppleness and grace.  He has four sharp claws on his hands as well as a clawed opposable thumb, and Dienonychus feet, along with the signature big claw where his big toes used to be.

Franz has accepted his monstrous appearance and has forgone wearing most clothing.  He finds himself to be more intimidating if he didn't hide his fearsome appearance.

 

STYLE AND SUBSTANCE

Franz wears a specially made fundoshi.  He constantly buys the customary japanese underwear in different styles.  When shadowrunning, he wears a black lined coat and a fedora along with the fundoshi to give a mystique to his appearance.  For formal occasions, he keeps a specially tailored sports jacket, dress pants, and dress shirt but does not wear shoes. The weapons harness he wears, also while Shadowrunning, is of a necessity. 

Franz is a dedicated practicer of Nudism, and likes to go naked in private and out in the open whenever possible.
