Terio Carn Map (Aesthetic Version)
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
To go with my novellas Soulbound and the upcoming Unbound- a map of the world. A bit harder to read- this is the aesthetic version, made to look worn in and used. These maps are not meant to be perfectly scaled or detailed because there is a lot of the world that is cut off from one another and uncharted as a result. The coast by Lemuria is considered the 'edge of the world'. These two maps also do not perfectly fit together- Basilius and Haven are almost perfectly lined up- but Haven is a two week (minimum) wagon ride away, so they are not close.
Pianeta and Isola are the south, Haven and the rest are the far northern edge of the known world- the south is from Soulbound, the north is Unbound. I wanted the maps to look used, so the green and red markings were put on to look like people had been adding to the map. The green text is landmark notes, the red show trade routes. The only link from south to north is between Basilius and Haven- a seldom used trade route between the two, but the narrow strip of traversible land that links the two is so long and low down that when the tide comes in, it floods over the path except for a few hills that remain as islands. This is avoidable in the winter when the water at the coast is frozen.
The other thing I should probably point out- the green penman marked 'WHALE' across the island nation of Isola- this is because the island is actually the back of a gigantic whale that has been sleeping since the start of recorded history. The smaller island is one of its fins, which is why it is named 'fish wing' in Italian.
The letter Y is marked on the top of the southern map because it is used on its own to mark something that is unknown (it resembles a question mark). On the northern map, the crater is marked with the letter for A because it is used to mark the beginning of something- it is where The Colony originally stemmed from. On the trade route to Tir Na Nog is the letter X, because the trade route no longer exists- the crowndom was reduced to rubble in war long ago.
Another fun fact? These maps are smaller than a playing card each, haha. I write small. The thing I photographed them on is a book turned sideways.
