Adeola meets Val 2: "Wrestling a Psycho Bunny"
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
*Secret Journal Files: Adeola Oshodi*
…Like I said, that day got crazy. In an effort to actually break the ice, Valerie invited us to the new studio gym to work out any tensions. I tried to warn Adeola of ‘Val the Viking’s’ temperament, but her friendly nature gave into Valerie’s invitation.
To be clear, Adeola was invited to wrestle with Valerie. Adeola’s used to some rough and tumble, but what happened blew my mind. For about ten minutes they sparred; Val’s size and speed gave her a clear advantage to stay out of range. I tried to warn her, but Adeola kept taking the bait and was clearly getting frustrated. And then faster than I could think, I saw Adeola knocked face down and then put in a headlock that she couldn’t break. I’ll never forget the mental image of Val ‘the Viking’ shouting at the top of her voice “Call me Mommy!” It was another three minutes before Adeola finally capitulated.
What I expected to come next was the roaring of a bad winner and watching Adeola gather her wounded pride. What actually happened was proof that you can’t rely on a T.V. show to be honest about someone’s personality. Val’s personality changed instantly; the violently bombastic bunny who we first met was suddenly very friendly, calm, supportive, and encouraging. The girls sat cross-legged in the ring talking for about twenty minutes and then Valerie showed Adeola how to put her in the headlock she had done without over extending herself or becoming vulnerable.
When it was all over, Adeola went to her photo shoot session and then I spoke to Valerie for a short while. She’s sharp, that’s the one thing T.V. did get right; witty, sarcastic, and quick on the verbal draw. When she’s not being all up in your face with her performance attitude, she’s surprisingly sweet, blunt, but sweet. She invited Adeola and myself out to dinner that night, and what happened there was a completely different story.
