Character Profile - Nelson Lapaki
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Name: Nelekona Koamalu Lapaki
Nickname: Nelson
Age: 8 1/2
Gender: Male
Height: 4'1"
Weight: 53
Species: Lop-eared Rabbit
Nelson is the only child of Hopena (Destiny) and Keoni L?paki, and was born in Kaneohe within the city of Honolulu in Oahu, Hawaii. Nelson is a very curious rabbit and loves to explore the world around him. As the age of six, he moved to Huntington, West Virginia with his parents, owing to his father finding a new job.
This did not last long though and his father lost his job. Following this, the man became abusive to the point of hitting and beating both Nelson and his mother on numerous occasions. About a month after his seventh birthday, Nelson witnessed the death of his mother, at the hands of his father. This traumatized Nelson, who ran from the home hiding behind a tree in the yard, until police had come, having been called by a neighbor, who overheard the murder.
Nelson was removed from the home, with his father arrested, and was eventually placed in the Cammack Children's Center. Since witnessing the death of his mother, Nelson grew fearful of nearly every adult he saw, too terrified to trust them or let himself get too close, due to the fear of being abused or worse. His old curiosity about the world seemed to come to a complete halt beyond that, as he would no longer go outside for any reason, and would barely ever leave his room. As a result of his fear, he very seldom ate much, usually only eating just enough to feel food in his belly.
The only adults he trusted at that point, though it took nearly a year to earn the trust, were the caretaker, Jolene Wildman and her assistant William "Willie" Radcliffe. Despite this, though, Nelson was almost always completely silent, only talking in short sentences.
During the year he had been there, several adults came to try to adopt him, but, owing to how they often went about it, Nelson would frequently scream or run off, stating he didn't trust them. This left Jolene with the worry that it was very likely Nelson would never be adopted.
The only other one to have earned Nelson's trust since then has been Bobby, who, through patience, caution and kindness, began to get him to see that not all adults are out to get him.
