KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

\n A short story about a dream that I had a while ago. I hope you like it.

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n A young man was walking in the desert, what he was doing there nobody knows.
\n

\n

\n He dropped down and lay there ready for death, then an oasis appeared out of thin air.
\n

\n

\n Convinced he was going mad from the heat, he non the less crawled towards the mirage.
\n

\n

\n Managing to somehow make it, he was surprised to find the shade real.
\n

\n

\n Recovering, the young man made it to an open part at the centre where a sparkling pool lay.
\n

\n

\n He gulped the water having never thought that water could taste so good.
\n

\n

\n Looking down he cried in surprise at his reflection. Looking back at him was a jackal instead of his own reflection.
\n

\n

\n He peered over again, curious. The jackal mirrored his every move.
\n

\n

\n Thinking he was suffering from heat stroke, he decided that he might feel better after a dip in the invitingly cool water.
\n

\n

\n Stripping off he stepped on into the pool, only to feel as if something had taken control of his legs as he kept on walking, deeper and deeper.
\n

\n

\n He yelled as his head went under followed closely by bubbles.
\n

\n

\n The water turned white, as if it had suddenly frosted over, before a jackal emerged.
\n

\n

\n Looking back into the water was the jackals reflection, until he noticed a furred leg out the corner of his eye.
\n

\n

\n Suddenly, he realised that he had become the jackal that was staring at him.
\n

\n

\n Giving himself a quick nip to make sure this wasn't a dream, he succeeded on just drawing blood.
\n

\n

\n The blood tasted odd, different to his human blood.
\n

\n

\n He then caught sight of movement, as another jackal appeared into the oasis.
\n

\n

\n Growling at first, he then caught the scent indicating this one as a female.
\n

\n

\n Wagging his tail at her and accidentally hitting himself in the face with not much control, he shook his head and gave chase.
\n

\n

\n He couldn't remember the last time he ever felt so free and without worry as he joyfully skipped on after her.
\n

\n

\n Just as he had left a pure black jackal appeared before them and touched noses, as if giving him it's blessing.
\n

\n

\n Somehow he felt like he had been a jackal his whole life now as he ran off after the female into the dessert sands.
\n

\n

\n The black jackal then wondered back and stood on top of the water as it adopted a more humanoid shape.
\n

\n

\n "You where never meant to be human in the first place" the Anubis said as she disappeared along with the oasis.
\n

\n

\n

\n

\n What do you think, I tried to remember as much as I could so I hope it was alright.
