Saving Christmas
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
One of those commissions, where I feel inspired to write something.
The 6-foot alien lagomorph set the lantern down and rubbed his paws with worry, dispelling the chill of the winter night air from them. He pondered on this last year, it’s events, and the fear, that had led up to the Guardians being weakened enough, to be kidnapped by the boogeyman, Pitch Black. The only reason he hadn’t been taken, is because his warren is a fortress against dark magics. Now more than ever, the world needed North’s Wonder and his own Hope. His friends' only chance to be saved was this, the Christmas run.
So here he was, in a clearing. Waiting. An old friend had called him urgently, but wasn’t here. He rubbed his paws faster in unease. The sound of snow crunching brought the Easter Bunny out of his thoughts. He brushed down his fur against the chilling wind, and picked up the lantern, holding it high to see. The large feral dragon come into view, pulling...
“Wherever did you find that, mate!? I didn’t even know North still had it!” Bunnymund exclaimed. Warmth surrounded him, chasing away winter’s bite, as the dragon’s deep voice echoed in the back of his mind, as if from across a lake.
“In an old shed off the workshop. It was giving off a signature tied more closely to Christmas than that other monstrosity. And I assumed you’d appreciate that this one has seat belts.” Aster smiled toothily. His dearest friend knew all to well how he hated flying.
“I still have time to put together a teleport spell, if you prefer.” The golden furred dragon said, losing some of his smile. Bunnymund wiped his muzzle of snow, as he’d realized that he’d been frowning at the dragon’s mention of seat belts.
“But you’re already harnessed up, and if we do this by the book, I’ll be able to find North despite Pitch’s wards. Besides, you look, well… Handsome. Regal.” Aster trailed off, as he looked over his feral friend. The dragon’s grin grew, and he stood taller, spreading his large wings.
“A sweet Pooka, with kind words, is awarded a kiss.” Auric murmured affectionately in his mind. Bunnymund reached out and stroked along the scales of his neck.
“After I rescue North and the others, we’ll celebrate at the Warren. Come on, let’s get this sleigh loaded.” He grabbed the reins, and climbed into the seat, buckling up before the dragon trotted off for the workshop. Not a bad view for the night…
