Last Leg +
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Promo poster for my upcoming Novella; Last Leg. Well ahead of release I should point out- so don't hold your breath; I can't start actually writing it till January 2024. It will completely replace the regular story release schedule though.
Cimon comes off as being hazardously lazy- but he isn't lazy he just... doesn't care. Why would he put effort into things he doesn't care about? Problem is; he has no dreams or aspirations... there is nothing he cares about. When his favorite aunt kicks the bucket suddenly his family dumps her former dog Anais into his lap, even though he seems like the worst person to be looking after... well, anything. Things go sideways really fast when they wake up the next day and Anais is half human! And Cimon is half dog! Not knowing what to do or how to fix their situation the two of them decide to get away, which also gives them an excuse to scratch a few items off their bucket list while travelling together.
Just as things are looking good for them in spite of their traits fluctuating back and forth between them; a strange man and dog show up to ruin their day! The determined and inhumanly strong Agrios, and his hound of cold steel; Lourd. With seemingly supernatural strength, these two new characters hunt them down trying to KILL them! And boy let me tell you, it is hard to drive with a robot dog chasing your motorbike at all times.
Poster turned out great overall I would say, though I may have attempted drawing angles that are above my skill level... Anais' left hand looks -slightly- off, because the digits are turned toward the viewer. Agrios' sword blade I could not figure out how to make the angle look correct no matter what. The handle and fingerguard was easy- because it has a semi-flat angle, you can tell what direction it is facing by the shading. But the blade is flat! It looks the same when you turn it, just more... narrow? I guess maybe more shading on the spine since the sun is shining off the edge? *shrug* I couldn't get it to work.
Oh and since I doubt anyone will get this on their own; there are several alchemical signs marking Agrios and Lourd. Lourd's flank is the sign for Steel, and her carbon fiber shoulder is marked with the sign for Sulfur. Agrios' shoulder is tattooed with the sign for Spirit, and his sword is etched with the markings for Fire, Retort, and Pulverize in order from bottom to top. Cimon and Anais' forms shift a lot throughout the novella, I went with a perfect half n half and feral-level faces just because it was the easiest for me to draw and seemed to work the best to give you an idea of what is happening in the novella... which is the point of a promo poster. Cimon actually has both of his arms- the missing arm is a trait from Anais that gets rubbed off onto him during their first shift. When Cimon turns canine he is a husky, while Anais is a whippet. Race dog with only three legs, ouch. I don't think she is going to be winning any races any time soon.
