Furry of claws; Chapter three. Rite of passage
Dion let himself fall on the luxurious bed in the room. The room was dressed in warm yellow and red, the bed was a large two person bed. The soft sheets where welcome to Dion hardened body. Rakshasi was sitting on the edge of the bed. Her back to Dion her face away from them. Dion could only wonder what she was thinking about. The Jarl, who was a dragon, would be one of the best candidates. “I don’t know Dion” Rakshasi let out a long gasp of air, the air made a hissing sound as it escaped her mouth. “I don’t think we should be staying the night here” Dion leaned up to sit next to Rakshasi. His green scales standing of the her purple scales. “Rakshasi, do we have a choice? We are safe from the knights here. That he might try to get to you is another story. It is too cold outside right now.” Her head turned to him, her eyes looking tiredly into his eyes. “I know, but that does not mean that I must like it.” Dion grabbed her shoulder with his scaly hand. A soft spark of energy flown from Dion to Rakshasi. Dion did not even bother to wonder what the energy currents where. They seem to happen every time they touched since the event they had in the forest cabin. “Rakshasi. Tell me, what can he do if he thinks that I am your mate.” She snorted, some smoke flared out her nostrils. “Well besides trying to kill you. Not a lot, maybe only one thing. If he is a dragon of traditions he can challenge you in a challenge.”
“A challenge?” Dion asked rather obscure. Rakshasi answered reluctantly. Her words did not flow smooth out of her mind, they felt more like an entanglement of multiple thoughts. “An old traditions to challenge an rivalling male for a fight. Used to be to show who was the stronger male, who was worth to mate a dragoness.” She let herself fall backwards on the bed. Her eyes gazed at the sealing. “Trough it holds no weight anymore. Some dragons still do a challenge but it is more for the show then for where it was intended to.” Dion turned his head sharply at Rakshasi. Gazing over her chest to her eyes. “All the traditions you seemed to tell me about are old or forgotten. What is the deal with that” Rakshasi’s eyes wondered over Dion’s scales before returning to the sealing. “Most traditions are a remnant of a time where dragons had their own kingdom. Now even the stories of a dragon kingdom are nothing more than dust in the wind.” Dion could see some tears rolling down her cheek. “We have fallen Dion. The dragons have fallen.” Dion whipped the tears away with his claw. “From the ashes we will rise” Rakshasi turned her eyes and head to look straight into his eyes. A look that used to be too intense for Dion. How he had changed; for a brief moment he remembered the fights they used to have. Arguments on killing and how to act. Now he seemed more in tune with Rakshasi. His eyes looked at the scales that covered his body. “We should get some sleep trough. Rakshasi’s voice sounded tired. The two person bed was just a bit too small for the two dragons. They were forced to lay scale to scale against each other to still have space. Dion’s mind briefly touched Rakshasi’s mind before closing his eyes. A moment he thought about that the elder dragon said to them “You are entangled.” The full meaning of what the elder dragon meant was lost to Dion, only shallow evidence that something was going on between him and Rakshasi. His mind drifted off to the moment he told the dragon about the mental link. He seemed surprised. To surprise about it. was it something unique? He had to remember it to ask Rakshasi in the morning, his mind became heavy with sleep.
A beautiful sky, he could see a purple dragoness standing in the a clearance in the forest. He gave a roar to let his presence known to the dragoness. Her eyes turned at him, the furry in her eyes. It could not be anyone else then Rakshasi. Dion roared again, showing his strength to her. It felt primitive, it felt strange but somehow it worked. Rakshasi let him come closer. Dion could feel something was not right. This was not him, he was stuck doing whatever something was telling him to. He came closer to Rakshasi. He could see his scales momentarily when his hands moved around. Dark green, not at all the emerald green he was covered with. What was going on? Dion tried to pull himself apart from what he was experiencing. Was this one of Rakshasi’s memories? But that could not be. After all this was not her. Dion was confused as his body remained acting on its own. Not that much seemed to happen. He and Rakshasi seemed to do nothing more than share a conversation. Was it the first time Rakshasi met her old mate? Would this be the moment they gotten to know each other. Dion tried to figure out if he seen this part of the forest. Only in the memory that Rakshasi shared to him. it might not be the forest he seen where Rakshasi had her lair. The two moved on, walking through the forest. Talking and laughing. Dion could feel jealously boiling up in him. but why? This had happened already this was not his life. Yet still…some odd feeling.
Dion was awakened by a screen. Rakshasi next to him was sitting in the bed. Her head between her legs. She was gasping for air. Dion wondered what was wrong. He placed a hand on her shoulder, Rakshasi growled and jumped on Dion. her eyes filled with anger. Dion shivered in fear, he could not realise what was wrong. Only that moments later Rakshasi’s look soften, letting Dion go out of her icy grip. “Sorry” she said with her voice quavering with emotions. “I just had a terrible nightmare” Dion placed his hand on her scales shoulder again, softly rubbing her shoulder. “Let it out Rakshasi” She seemed to collect a lot of effort to talk again. “It might not seem a nightmare. It is rather idiotic to wind up about it…” Dion would have none of her excuses. He pushed her a bit more to tell her about the dream she had. Finally after some encouraging words she started to talk again. “Well it was about the first day I met my old mate.” She shivered, obviously trying to hide it as much as she could “He came to me, roaring and acting like the old dragons. All macho” Dion suddenly thought about his own dream, could it be? Could it be the same dream. Rakshasi described every little detail she knew about the dream. the resemblance terrified Dion. “Uhm” he did not know where to start, telling her about the dream he had. “I might have had a similar dream?” Rakshasi did not seem to get what he was getting at first. “You dreamt about your human life and your wife?” Dion shook his head. “No I mean, I dreamt I was your ex mate. It sounds stupid but what you just described what was I dreamed last night…just from the other perspective.” Rakshasi’s tone changed to a serious and rather up sad tone. “Dion. this is not the time to make a joke like that to cheer me up” Dion pulled Rakshasi around, forcing her to look into his eyes. “This is no joke.” He said stern. He could feel Rakshasi’s mind crumble and send into chaos. “Fuck” Dion swore to himself, he shouldn’t have told Rakshasi what he experienced.
Rakshasi suddenly groped Dion and pulled him against her. “Dion…” she said crying out of fear and pain. “How…what did you do” Dion protested, he had nothing to do with this. “I just dream! can I help it? Haven’t you realised I don’t know what I am dreaming” Rakshasi’s left eye looked at Dion. her head buried in his head. The larger purple dragoness, coiled herself slightly around Dion. you two are entangled. Doin could remember clearly. “But so far what you dreams had a meaning…” Dion surged stroking Rakshasi behind her horns a place that she seemed to rather enjoyed to be stroked. “Maybe but please do not wind up about it now.” He paused, thinking what to say next. Wondering if the action in the cabin might be related to this. First he seen Rakshasi’s most personal memory, then he joined minds with her. “Maybe it is an after effect of Vs'shtak-ricin-ganim.” Rakshasi nodded. “yes, It must be…the Vs'shtak-ricin-ganim” Her claws loosened the grip on his scales she pulled herself away from Dion “Still it is strange…” Dion whipped away her tears. “Just try to stop thinking about it” His gaze moved through the room and out a window. It was already dawn, his stomach started to growl slightly. “We might try to get some food around this place” Dion added. He hoped that the Jarl would be still kind enough to get them some food. Not that Dion looked forward to see that dragon again.
The great hall was filled. On the table where all sorts of humans. Family of the Women who was sitting next to the black dragon. Rakshasi and Dion where sitting on one of the heads of the table. Opposite of the Jarl. All kinds of food was served, from bacon and eggs to swans ready to eat. the hot meat was welcoming to Dion’s body. The source of heat fuelled his fire within. The mood on the table was grim. No one seemed to talk, the dragon mostly glared with a distrusting look at Dion. only sometimes he turned away from Dion to look at Rakshasi. As soon as he looked at her his look turned kind. Only when he returned to gaze at Dion the look of the dragon seemed harsh. Bards and jokes where walking around the table. Playing and preforming to lighten the mood. The humans seem to quickly lose the grim mood and happily sang with the songs. Only the three dragons seemed not interested in songs and dances. The black dragon ribbed the meat from his chicken leg without much concern of the people around him. in Dion’s eyes it seemed rather inappropriate for a Jarl to behave so close to the feral dragons of the tales. Even Rakshasi was eating with knives and fork. It soon was clear that they stood out from the people of this town, after the second barrel of mead. The forks and knives where replaced with hands. Dion would not want to know what would be dinner if this was only breakfast. Nor he wanted to know how much food was eaten. The town seemed small already and with this much food he could hardly think what the common folk would eat. His eyes turned to Rakshasi, he could not eat another bite. He felt more and more uncomfortable by the gaze of the dragon. “We should leave” He tried to press on. Rakshasi seemed to be happy to comply with Dion’s request. The two made their excuses and left the festivities alone to go to their room.
As soon as Dion entered the room he started to pack the backs. He did not want to stay any minute longer in this place then he had to. His claws moved over the eggs, making sure that they were strapped in safe. “You know” Rakshasi started, her gaze also at the eggs. “they should have hatched by now…I do not know if they a…” Dion roared, startling Rakshasi. “I already lost an young life! I will not make that mistake a second time.” The memory of the euthanasia still fresh in his mind. No the eggs had to life. He took care of them, he could not accept otherwise. “just…” Rakshasi struggled with her words “just think about it…We cannot carry them forever.” Dion look was sharp at the purple dragoness. “I do not care, I will carry them as long as I need to do.” Thankfully Rakshasi did not argue with Dion. She warped up her own backpack. They were ready to leave this town behind. Hoping they would not see this dragon for quite some time.
They walked through the great hall. The hall was empty, still the food was on the table. Even the Jarl and his wife where not sitting on the throne. “this is…” Dion started, Rakshasi finished him “odd” Weary and carefully they walked to the great door. Rakshasi wanted to open it, Suddenly the Black dragon jumped in front of them from the sealing. Blocking the exit. “wux re ti gethrisjir jalklar” the dragon growled out commanding. Both Dion and Rakshasi emitted a threatening growl in sync. Specially Dion would have none of the horrible way the dragon treated him. now he was saying that they could not leave? Dion was about to explode. Anger boiled within him. “yth re jaseveir” With each passing word smoke came from his nostrils. The dragon turned his look at Dion, a claw pressed against his chest. Dion could see the dragon pressing his claw against his chest, causing Dion to only growl even more. Rakshasi next to him tensed up, ready to strike. “yth re gethrisjir.” Dion said again, trying to remain his calmness. The dragon hissed out one simple word. “Thric!” Dion could not maintain his calmness anymore. This dragon had gotten on his nerve one time to many. In a smooth motion he grabbed the claw of the dragon and turned the dragon’s arm around. The dragon roared out in pain, alerting the guards who came rushing to them. Dion pressed the dragon against the ground, his clawed feed pressing against the dragon’s chest. His eyes filled with fire, looking at the dragon. He could kill that dragon right here right now if he wanted. Rakshasi was dealing with the guards, her roars and display of smoke and fire kept them at bay. Again Dion roared at the dragon. “Yth re Gethrisjir!” His claws started to drag into his chest, leaving scratch marks. The dragon protested in all his might but when Rakshasi grabbed one of his horns and twisted his neck violently he halted all protest. With a simple command the guards stopped the advance. Dion kicked open the door, letting Rakshasi walk out first before he followed her.
Still on the rush of adrenaline the two took off into the sky. They made a large circular motion in flight. Hoping to confuse any persuaders where they are going. The next town would be a day’s flight away. The town was much more densely populated and getting a place to say would be harder.
“I have been thinking” Dion started as they flew over an large open place in the forest. “Can’t we get some long coats…If we manage to keep our wings and tail hidden we might pass on for monks with some long brown coats.” Rakshasi nearly fell out of the sky from the idea Dion was proposing. “Dion this is madness..” but soon she turned at him with a large grin. “and it might just work.” Dion was most delighted by Rakshasi’s agreement in his plan. It might just be enough to keep them from being chased of the whole time. Plus, that might be the most enjoying fact. That they would be hiding under the king’s nose without him knowing. “Only Dion, where do you want to get such thing?” Dion’s eyes gazed the sky, from what he had read he almost knew for sure that every city had at least one monetary nearby. He hoped that the upcoming town had one to.
The rest of the flight the two dragons kept discussing the plan to hide them. The flaws in the plan, they still had to eat and sleep. they could not do that with the hood on. Dion guessed that a good locked door in a inn would be enough. And for eat, well they could eat in the chamber of course. Rakshasi had to point out she had little faith that much privacy would be given them. let alone that they could afford any inn where they could have such a locked door. Gold was the problem, without it one could do nothing in the capital of the kingdom.
They neared the town with the sun still rising in the sky. The two dragons landed just outside of the town. Making sure that they were not seen. “How you want to do this?” Dion asked Rakshasi while they were glaring over the town from the edge of the forest. “Far too busy right now” Rakshasi growled softly. “But we can’t stay out in the cold much longer” Dion remember her, he could feel his core temperature already dropping. Rakshasi let her eyes roll over the different farms and buildings. “Look” she pointed to a small farm. Out of the farm’s chimney a nice thick plume of smoke was ricing. Dion gazed with his eyes, he could see one middle aged man standing outside, chopping up wood. The farm was close by the forest edge and far away from the town. They could stay a day tops if someone discovered them. Dion looked at Rakshasi with a judging gaze. “Rakshasi, agreed we have to try to keep warm…but killing more?” He paused, he did not had to finish his words. Feeling she already gotten the message. “I know! But do we have much choice? We can’t just go…”
“Hello!” A little child’s voice came from behind them. spooking both dragons. With a hiss they jumped a small distance into the air. “What are you looking at?” Little child asked. Dion gazed with an all too worried look at the little boy. Soon enough they could hear the father shouting out to call the boy. “Run?” Dion looked at Rakshasi, her gaze looked back and nodded. Just as the two dragons wanted to run the father came in sight. “Oh their you a…” he stopped in his place when he saw the two dragons. The man became white, almost as white as the snow around him “bloody hell” Dion swore. The air escaping between his teeth making a hissing sound. “Son, please step away from the dragons.” Dion rationalized that he could easily kill the father and the boy, making sure no one would know that they were nearby. Yet he was paused, they boy did nothing wrong. The man? Well he was just too afraid for his life to be a threat. They boy turned his head to his father then to the dragons again. “Why?” he simply asked. The innocence of a child not seeing the danger two fanged and clawed fire breathing reptiles could do. “Just do so son.” The fathers gazed fixed on the two dragons. Pure fear in his eyes. “Rakshasi? Ideas?” Dion tried to get a plan together, but Rakshasi seemed to be paralyzed. Dion wondered if something was wrong with her, seeing how she normally would have had a plan by now.
“Honey are you there?” A women’s voice came from the distance. “Great…” Dion only hissed more, furthermore scaring the father. “S…stay away” the fathers shouted back stumbling. The women did approach the male from behind. Her eyes gazed over the dragons. She seemed not angry, not terrified and not wanting to run away. The women had an odd build, slim and longer than any human. “Rakshasi!?” she proclaimed like she seen water burning. The male looked at what presuming is his wife like she just insulted his gods. “What?! How…” Suddenly Rakshasi seemed to wake up from her paralyzed state. “Perrinerrgres?” Rakshasi struggled with the name, throwing random growling sounds between the words. “who?” Dion asked to clarify what was just going on. “By the Devine! It speaks!” the man spooked up, trying to protect his wife. Even when it was not needed. “Pelinelbes, she used to life in Dunick years ago. She found love with a trader and left.”
Pelibelbes pushed her husband away to approach the dragons and get her son. “You shouldn’t run off like that.” She spoke in a soft voice to the child. Her head turned to the two dragons. “Anyway, what are you doing here out in the snow in the middle of the kingdom.” Her gazed moved quickly to Dion “and who is this dragon in shiny scales?” Dion swallowed, bowing his head slightly. He tried to be polite, not that it was simple in such an awkward situation. “bensvelkilti ekess visp persvek trelka cuailiri” Rakshasi growled softly. Pelinelbes looked at her husband. “honey, seems we have guests” The male protested loudly “What you mean Dragons in my house?” She gave a small smile, walking to her husband. “Yes. Dragons in our house. Don’t worry they will not kill us. Just see it like an old friends of mine is visiting us.” The male turned his gaze from Pelinelbes to the two dragons. “Do I have a choose?” The women kindly smilled “Well you could turn us in. but I don’t think you want that.” Dion could see the male give in. He whispered something to his wife, Dion could not hear what. Pelinelbes waved the two dragons over “Come, we have a farm near the forest edge.”
With some luck and some detours they arrived at the farm. The farm was a bit farther away than the smaller farm the two had laid their eyes on. It was still a good days of walking away of the town, giving enough privacy around. Besides the couple with the child Dion could see no sing of someone else living in the rather roomy farm. Pelinelbes handed the child his her husband, she closed to the door behind the two dragons. “Sooo, introductions!” she said energetically. “Rakshasi this is my husband, Aslan. Aslan this is Rakshasi. She lived near my town for many years.”
Aslan gazed on between the two dragons and Pelinelbes. “You had a dragon living near your town!?” She undressed the winter clouts for something much more comfortable. With the removal of her head Dion could see the trade mark pointy ears that marked her as one of the towns elves he had seen. Rakshasi nodded in answer to the males reply. Pelinelbes guided the pair of dragons to a large oak table. “So, now a more important question” he gaze turned to Dion. “Who are you?”
“jaci tepohaic thric ominak persvek hesi ooble” Rakshasi fell in for Dion, resuming the roll as translator for him. Dion started to become less and less happy with needing one. His draconic, trough still bad, was good enough for a simple conversation. “How you mean no name in your tongue?” The women seemed most intrigued. Dion stepped forwards, becoming more apparent in the room. “Si ergriff tepoha vi munthrek ominak” the eyes of Pelinelbes widened up slightly. “A dragon with a human name? This is most enlightening. Tell me…what is your story?” Dion gave a simple gaze to Rakshasi, asking for some help. Rakshasi returned his gaze with a slight smile “Tell them. I will help you” Dion took a deep breath “Very well.” He took place on one of the chairs.
With Rakshasi’s help in draconic he told the two humans the story of how he came to be a dragon. He left out most of the details of that he came from another world, how he lived his life before this dragon form and the terrors he gone through. Pelinelbes translated the draconic to her husband. He seemed to struggle with demons of his own. Trying hard to believe the story of the dragon. “Well, seems you really got to find a dragon name for yourself” Pelinelbes clapped her hands delighted at the end of Dion’s story. Dion was not impressed, he knew it of course. Lucky for him the conversation turned to Rakshasi. “So, you and this emerald dragon here are traveling? Why did you leave the town behind? Is everything alright?” Rakshasi turned her eyes down, she did not want look the women in the eyes while telling the news. “thric.” She surghed, telling the women how the knights nearly killed her. Most likely the town would be in heavy trouble if the knights would find out that they aided a dragon. Pelinelbes’s eyes grew wide and wet in fear. “oh no..” she gasped slightly, her hands digging in the oak wooden table. “So…” she seemed reluctant to ask the question. Dion feared that he had an idea what question it would be. “Why are you here then?” Rakshasi’s eyes turned into a fire, a hate that she hold for the king for a long time. “Sventir wer daar.” A dead silence felt over the room, the only the man and the child made some noise. “The king? Rakshasi have you gone insane! Agreed that man does not deserve better then death…but do you think murdering will solve the issues.”
“Wait” the male suddenly shot up from his chair. “You want to kill the king who has done nothing but good for this lands!?” he was stopped by his wife, obviously before he could anger Rakshasi by his obviousness for what the king was doing. “Hun, he ordered a mass murder of dragons…You might not have seen the dragons in this light before but you honestly still believe that dragons are killing beasts like the king wants us to believe.” The man shook his head “Yes, maybe, I don’t know. I did not expect dragons to talk!” Pelinebles rolled her eyes a bit “You see? That is what the problem is. I wish it would have happened another way” her gazed turned to the two dragons again. “Rakshasi, you have to understand I can’t support you in killing the king. I have to think about my child…” Rakshasi nodded slightly “Si kampiun” The women was not finished “but my house is open to you to stay for as long as you would like” her husband seemed not even to protest by this point, he just went along with it. Rakshasi nodded and thanked Pelinebles gratefully for the offer. Her gaze wandered outside, the sun was already setting. Pelinebles stood up “Well we have some fresh meat in store? You fancy some meat the old way?”
Later that night Dion and Rakshasi shared a bed again. this one not as spacey. Dion surged as he gazed over the single room. He could see the pair of humans laying on the other side in the bed sleeping quietly. His mind gently touched Rakshasi’s mind. She responded sleepy. “Yes Dion?” she gave a soft growl. The growl vibrated her chest that was pressed against Dion’s back. “I don’t know…” Dion turned his head around, looking away from Rakashasi and out the window. “What is bothering you Dion?” Dion gave a soft surge. “I don’t know Rakshasi. I become less and less sure that we should continue the plans to kill the king?” Rakshasi shifty dismissed any further discussion “Dion, another time. I am tired and want to sleep.” She blocked over her mind for him, signalling the end of any more questions. Dion closed his eyes trying to sleep again.
“Damn you!” Dion could see the world around him has changed. Where ever he was in, he could see nothing but whiteness so far as the eyes could see. “Why!?” A woman’s voice cried over. The sound seemed to come from everywhere at the same time. It drove Dion insane. What was happening? He growled, walking around. He yell face first on the ground, whatever the ground was. The whiteness made him not able to see what was up or down. Making him sick and confused. He gotten a look of his hands once he tried to stand up. human hands? What was going on? Dion turned his head around, he saw no wings nor tail. His body covered in nothing but human skin. “Why you had to jump!” The woman’s voice cried out again. Was it his old wife? It sounded like that. Was he dead? Or was he in the hospital again? Dion shivered with the thoughts of having another coma. Dion wanted to shout back, wanting to tell her he was still alive but he could produce nothing.
“You see Dion? you see how sad you made us all?” Another voice came from behind Dion. He turned around to see Rakshasi glaring at him. “You have a horrible attraction to trains I give you that” she walked to him. Dion hit himself for the head. This was not real, Rakshasi could not speak the common human tongue. “Oh don’t be so surprised Dion.” her clawed hand moved to him. she placed her clawed hand on his chest and smiled. “Did you never thought of what others would feel like when you so selfishly took your life.” She gazed with a wicked smile at him. a smile that Dion did not like. “Here!” she suddenly dragged her claws over his chest. Blood rolling down his chest. He screamed in pain. “That should teach you! That is how you feel”
“Dion! come back to me!” Dion turned around to see another Rakshasi standing in the emptiness. “Don’t have this again.” She spoke but her lips did not move. Dion turned back at the form of Rakshasi with blood drooling of her claws. “Oh I see the others have awakened.” Her wicked smile turned only deeper. “Don’t worry, they will not interfere. After they can’t reach you here” He could feel another claw on his body, cutting open his skin. He let out another pained roar. Falling down to the ground, his legs failing him. Dion could do little, his body in submission to whatever this form of Rakshasi was. “You are mine to do with what I want.” Just as well when the dragoness wanted to slash Dion another time she was hold back by another Purple dragoness. Another Rakshasi to confuse things even more. “Leave him.” she growled pushing the other Rakshasi away. Dion crawled away, this was getting to confusing to him. he no longer knew what tried to harm him and what tried to help him. From a distance he could see a small fight going on between the two Rakshasi’s. A human appeared next to him, it was Pelinebles. She started to mumble some language Dion did not understand. Suddenly a blackness overcame the white room. The Rakshasi with the bloody claws who tried to slash open Dion disappeared in screams of agony. The only Rakshasi who was left joined Pelinebles in the singing of the words. A golden dot appeared in the blackness that was all around him. the dot grew and grew until it was all in front of his field of view.
Dion could see the rough shape of a hand hovering above his eyes. A golden glow emitted from the palm of the hand. It was the hand of Pelinebles who was sitting on his side of the bed. On the right side Rakshasi was sitting. Her hands places on his chest and forehead. He could feel her soul entangled with his soul again. “Dion! finally!” she sounded relieved and tired. Dion was dazed, his body felt numb and his mouth was dry. “what…happened?” he asked with great difficulty, he struggled to keep a grip on his mind. Rakshasi stayed within his mind, helping him. guiding him. “You where unconscious after I awoken. I couldn’t wake you up…so I peeked inside to see what was going on.” Dion moved his head around, looking at the room around him. he could not see Aslan or the child. Pelinebles kept her kind smile, he could see puffiness under her eyes. “How long I was out?” Only after a long pause Rakshasi answered again “A full day I am afraid. We tried to awake you the whole day…” Dion slowly moved his clawed hand to his head, rubbing the space around Rakshasi’s paw. He was relieved to see that he was still draconic. “Did….” She nodded and softly added “I was the one who fought that evil image of myself…” she did not seem to hold anything against him. Rakshasi turned her look at Pelinebles. She explained in crude detail what she saw in Dion’s mind. She explained parts Dion did not see himself. Something about an inner struggle with in him. A mind warring with itself. “conflict of mind…” Pelinebles ceased the golden glow that was coming from her hand. “I can’t heal this…” She surged deeply “It sounds almost like Dion’s mind comes from another plane of existence…” Against Dion’s wishes Rakshasi explained what happened to Dion that Dion did not tell yesterday. “She can help” Rakshasi ensured him.
“A dream that he was human? Complete memory loss from a dragon life?” Pelinebles shook her head. “I don’t think it was a dream…” she looked around the cabin to make sure no one was listening. “You have visited the elde…” Rakshasi stopped the human quickly, her voice angry “Ssejinw! wux jalla ti tangis vucot di jacion!” Pelinebles laid a free hand on Rakshasi’s shoulder. “I know, I know. But he helped me too.” Rakshasi gazed perplexed at the human. She quickly shook her head and turned back to Dion. “Tiric ti selgtarn ihk jaka. svabol zahae jacion?”
The human seemed to think long and deep before coming to an answer “I can only guess that two different personalities are warning in him. One human, one dragon. The dragon one is strong, whatever you did with him in that cave helped him. Yet the human mind is not agreeing…tell me Rakshasi, since he is a new dragon…did you do the rite with him?” Dion quickly asked before Rakshasi could answer Pelineples. “Rite?” Rakshasi softly growled to Dion “Give me a moment…I will explain everything in time Dion” She turned her attention to the human again. “Thric.”
“Then maybe the rite is your next option.” The human stood up, walking away from the bed to a fire place where a soup was brewing. “Rakshasi, it might be the only push he needs.” Rakshasi gave a soft nod and turned to Dion, still not breaking contact of mind. “This might take some time Dion. The rite of passage is an dragon tradition that came into existence around the time the first dragons turned bipedal. In order to help us with our mental capabilities. The rite is a ritual that challenged your mental strength. It is in most dragon clans considered the only rite worthy enough to turn a dragon from a hatchling into an adult.” Dion listened carefully, ignoring the growling hunger that came into his stomach. “Some other dragon cultures expanded on the rite. For example, the rite we will do comes from my father and my father’s clan. This rite…can drive you insane. It requires you to make contact to an dozen of sentient being without being noticed.” Dion’s eyes widened in shock, how would that help him conquer his inner struggles? And the risk of going insane was more then he wanted to risk. Rakshasi did not lay the worries to rest as she continued with reasons why he should do it. “The rite needs mental strength, meditating. It is not the rite itself that will help you. It is the path that you take. I believe you can do it, I believe you can cast out your human mind and be dragon in mind and body. the only question you have to ask is. Do you want to be dragon of mind?”

Rite of passage
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Even when you find a fellow dragon it seems that not all is well. Specially when older more primal traditions are in play. Trough not all times are bad, Rakshasi and Dion continue their path and find for the first time some real friends.
