Night’s Angel
My love was never blind even thou I am, for my love see from my heart. He was my world and cared for me more then he should. I knew his life was harsh and curl. But I know his heart is true, his love is real. I can feel it in his touch. I can hear it in the beats of his chest at night when he holds me close.
But the day came when the doctor said I can have my sight restore. When we spoke I could hear his heart break. But told me, it should be my choice alone. I spent some time to think. Why did his heart break when told him I could for the first time? Was he afraid of what I would think?
I had felt his scars with my own hands. I heard the gasps of other when we walk down the street. Where the world had only seen him from the outside, I had seen the beauty of his soul. I had made my choice but I knew I couldn’t do it alone.
The day came quickly and the procedure was a success. And a month later we sat in a room. Before the doctor came in, he tried to pull away. “Please don’t go” I said. “I’m the last thing you should ever see” he answered. “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you” I said.
“I want you to see something beautiful first” he said. “I already have” I answered. I hunted for his hand with mine. “Please don’t go, I need you now more than ever” I begged. I felt his hand wrap around mine in his grip I could feel his fear. He tried to speak but with a finger I froze his words.
“No flower will ever take from the beauty you have given me” I said. We were quite for what felt like ages. But door open and the doctor entered, her heels clicking against the tile. Her breathe hissed when she saw him. I could head her distasted in her sigh.
In no time she began to cut the wraps from my head. It was soft at first. My world became brighter each time. I had to close my eyes because it was starting to hurt. I gripped his hand I tight as I could, knowing it was nothing to him.
She tried to put herself between us but wouldn’t let her. He was all I wanted to see. I could be happy losing my sight as long as I could see his face. The last wrap hit the floor along with the gauze. I blind my eyes open.
He had turned his head hiding his scars. I turned him to face me as he came into focus. His face was half scared one eye ghostly and dead. Broken and missing teeth sat in his weak smile. I gasped. His smile broke as his hand began to slip from mine. I smiled tears rolling down my cheeks.
“You’re more then I could have ever dreamed of” I said pulling his lips to mine. My dream had come true.
