We Are At a Dispute
I really, really wanted to showcase Death and Vadimir together for this. The picture was even more frustrating than "Here Again". I tried again to have them grappling, but I couldn't get the correct angle or positions. I was indecisive, too, whether I wanted the picture vertical or horizontal. I first wanted to draw Death reaching over her shoulder for her Katana, but I dropped that as I didn't know how I could do that and feature Vadimir's face. I didn't know what angle could work on that, either. When writing the chapters set in Knightsedge, I couldn't think of a name for the area's pub. So, in the colouring process, I put in a sign. I thought the building would need it. I went with "Sin Lover's". In editing the chapter, the narration mentions the name Sin Lover's Den.
This picture, to date, is the one to take me the longest. I can't really count drafts or practice sketches. I focused mostly on Death's pose and Vadimir's hand. Another big question for me was where to cleverly put the number in the background. I drew this on the evening of May 4, 2021. I drank tea and ate an apple and cupcakes. I listened to the "Devil May Cry 5" soundtrack. I drew only the figures with a pencil, most of which I erased in the colouring process. I also used three kinds of pens. Coloured with pencil crayons, markers, watercolour pencils, and a wet brush. On this, I spent 109 minutes, start-to-finish.
