Vrel and Cyn'ta
So, my first time every playing D&D in university I used my draconic self as a base and then made a ranger beast master from it. The little wyvern is his animal companion named Cyn'ta. She hatched from a supposedly defective egg and my character nurtured her to adulthood. This was before Tasha's Cauldron of Everything and Fizban's Treasury of Dragons introduced better options for rangers wanting to follow the beast master archetype. My first DM was absolutely stunning with getting a system down that would prevent my companion from being just a throwaway creature like the base beast master expects. After all, you are supposed to have a deep bond with the creature! I've been trying to carry those first traditions over, as now I find myself running a D&D game of my own!
