Once an overly tall woman named Chiyo, she was completely unable to fit in anywhere. Men would not allow a woman to join them and she was just plain bad at all the usual womanly things- tea ceremony and flower arranging were not her things. Eventually Chiyo fought back against fate and became the oni M?ru to annihilate anyone who dared try to walk on her again- and she found an immediate supporter in the ?moikade; Hyaku T?ken.

Now, I should probably explain her seemingly nonsensical name. The writing on this sumi-e style image from top to bottom are 'M?ru', 'Hyaku T?ken', and 'Chiyo'. M?ru literally means 'mall' though, which is an odd name to take for yourself, eh? It is actually meant as a cross-language pun; M?ru means mall, which in English sounds almost identical to maul. Oni are best known for carrying around a huge kanabo- a type of maul. Her name is a pun.
