Map of Midland, 1802
A map for my fantasy epic, NONE SO VILE. A saga of war, sorcery, and violence all stemming from a core of two enemies who might be more similar than they suspect.
Our two main characters are based in Rennaire. Known for its powerful military and large population, Rennaire is a major player in the political landscape of Midland. When our story begins in 1802, the country is embroiled in a long lasting war against the combined efforts of Losaile & Danegard. The King of Rennaire needs the war to end; his country is running out of men, money, and patience.
NONE SO VILE is a flintlock-fantasy. Gunpowder armies are commonplace. Muskets, rifles, cannons, and men on horseback. It's an era that I personally really love, though doesn't usually pop up too much in the fantasy genre (save Powder Mage). There's a lot of fascinating elements to this kind of era, huge sweeping technological and cultural change. Rennaire is no different. Sorcery, technology, and popular sentiment will all rise up to help shape the future of Midland. There is magic in this world, it's a fantasy story after all, but it's dangerous and unpredictable. Steel & lead are far more reliable.
Midland is a loosely-shaped pseudo-Europe, and many of the countries shown here have various real-world analogues, with their accompanying specifics to differentiate them. This map can exist as a bit of a fallback tool as the story progresses, in case you need a refresher on where everything is. Meanwhile, feel free to look at my averagely-styled map and imagine the story being better than it is.
