KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

As morning broke, Roy stirred from the dream-like state he was in. The monster was still within the forest from the previous day, and back at his campsite. Was what he experienced a dream? No, he knew it wasn't. Even if deep down he wanted it to be. Sitting up slowly, the tired Nightmare looked around to make sure he was truly alone now. He didn't notice either of the blades he had laying around. His camp was a bit a mess but nothing was too damaged to the point he could not bring it with him. With a stretch and deep groan, Roy got to his feet and began packing his things. While he packed, he noticed his right hand had two rings on it. A gold one and a green one. "Oi, either of you two there?" Roy called out, looking at the rings on his fingers. For a brief time, no response came. However, it did not take long for Caliber to address him. "Yes, we can hear you. Merely conversing on our next move from here." He explained, meaning Vertigo was likely not going to speak to Roy. At least not right now. "Well we should find your other mates, right? Ya know the other swords?" Roy continued to pack as he spoke. Needless to say, he was ready to get moving somewhere else. "Well of course. However, it is not that simple." Caliber stated," After our previous bout with The Sins of Man, we scattered ourselves in order to regain our strength. Our last fight was so viscous we had no choice. The problem resides in tracking the other blades down. There's no precise method to do so. We merely are able to get a vague range from our own magical signature." Roy listened closely as he packed his things. "There any left in the States? And if there's not, where's the first one you can sense?" Roy figured these were the best questions to ask given the information. Not much of a point leaving the country yet if he can find more of these swords first. A pause filled area. He figured the blades were conversing again, and so started to make his way out of the woodland area. The Nightmare thought it best to head to the nearest airport and wait for their answer.

After around two hours of walking, Roy was coming up on the airport. Wasn't a big commercial one but it had at least one plane that took off overseas. So he had options for where to go. Before entering, he stopped a bit away so no one could hear him speaking out loud. "Oi, you two have been pretty quiet. Where am I headin'?" He asked, looking down at the two rings on his right hand. As if on queue Caliber responded,"It would appear our first stop is in France. Both Vertigo and myself can sense something there." Roy nodded as he began to make his way inside the airport. He went through the process of booking a ticket and it seemed he'd have to fly to London first before catching a train to Paris. Wasn't the best thing financially speaking, but he had an idea in mind. For now he was fine with taking the plane. Walking to the ticket purchase, he bought himself a ticket before heading over to the waiting area. The trip would be pretty long, around 12 hours. Roy didn't have much in the way of entertainment for the trip so he'd probably just sleep.

Boarding the plane was fairly easy, with no major issues in sight. Roy managed to snag a comfortable window seat towards the back of the plane. Shuffling in, he plopped down in his seat and started to look out the window. He relaxed as he tucked in for the long haul. "Excuse me, is this seat taken?" Just as he was getting comfortable, a voice came from near him. His ear naturally turned to the direction of the voice before he did. Turning, Roy was met with a woman standing in the isle. She was a human, probably close to his age. She had short curly hair covering her left eye. She had light brown skin, peppered with freckles. Her outfit seemed to be an emerald leotard, with a pair of blue jeans covering her lower half. She also had a small jacket that matched her leotard. She seemed to wait on his answer. "It's free if ya want it." Roy simply responded. The woman smiled happily as she took her seat next to him. "Thanks. Not used to seeing Nightmares on one of these. What's taking you to London?" She seemed quick to strike up a conversation. Her dark green eyes never leaving Roy. He wasn't one for small talk really. "Just need to go there for business. All ya need to know sheila." Was his swift response. She seemed to catch on quickly that he wasn't gonna be much in the way of conversation from his response. Saying no more than that she took out some earplugs and a book. Roy relaxed in his seat and closed his eyes. Take off would be soon.

As the plane took off, Roy found himself drifting off to sleep. As he rested he felt himself being pulled into something else. His eyes shot open and found himself back in that weird mental state as before. He guessed Caliber and Vertigo wanted to see him. Looking around, he noticed two figures in the distance seemingly waiting for him. Making his way to them, he could better see them. The first he noticed was a man. Human in appearance, he had pale grey skin and golden hair. His eyes seemed to be a gradient of his skin and eye color. He had plate armor on. Next to him stood a much shorter doe woman.

She had pink and green markings all across her body. Her eyes seemed to also be a gradient of pink and green. She wore a green robe and flower crown. "Oi, who're you two?" Roy asked as he walked up, gaining the attention of the two. "Ah good you finally arrived back here" said the man who sounded just like Caliber. Roy looked surprised for a split second before tilting his head to the side a bit. "Caliber that you? And is that Vertigo?" He pointed at them both as he spoke, and received a nod of confirmation from Caliber. "Even though you managed to survive your encounter with that brute back in the woods, you need much more training for the journey ahead. Thus, Vertigo and myself have taken forms more suitable for the purpose of training you." Caliber very simply explained the change in their appearance and the purpose of it. Roy crossed his arms and nodded. He wasn't dumb or that stubborn to not agree to it. Sure he knew how to fight, but with swords? Completely out of his field of knowledge. "Well that's all dandy, but just how am I gonna keep all that training you give to me memorized? Lotta fightin' is muscle memory." He did bring up a valid point. Learning things in this mental space doesn't automatically mean he'd retain it in the real world. Caliber chuckled, "Do not fret. These lessons will be etched into your very soul. You shall not forget them." Roy wasn't entirely sure what Caliber meant but he wasn't one to question much. Well it seems that he'd have something to do on this flight after all.

Roy was already regretting falling asleep. These two had to be insane. The moment he agreed to train, the two of them just disappeared. Confused, Roy was grabbed by vines and pulled under the odd ground he stood on. As he regained his bearings, he noticed a much more plain sword laying next to him. Picking it up he stood and went wide eyed at the sight before him. He was in what seemed to be a vast jungle. Before he could even react, he heard Caliber speak. "This is where you'll hone your skills during our trip. The sword in your hand can be used to copy either Vertigo or my own powers. Survive this place and locate at least one of us before you reach your destination within the real world. By then you should be perfectly able to use either of us." Was all he said before the voice left. "Oi. OI! What the fuck you call this trainin'!?" Roy screamed at nothing. With no response, he huffed and ventured into the jungle before him. Currently he was fighting for his life against the jungle itself. It seemed like each step he took the trees, the vines, the flowers. Everything was trying to kill him. At first, he figured since he was in his mind it wouldn't matter if he got hurt. That was quickly disproven when he got smacked through a tree by a vine early on. It hurt. It hurt a lot and he didn't even know how that worked. For the first time since he was a kid he found that he was severely under trained for the situation at hand. But there was no time to sit still. He was jumping, sprinting and slashing his way through everything that came at him. With only a few moments to rest, he just kept pressing forward. 11 hours remain before he arrives at his destination.
