It t'was a cold and lonely night,
the stars were out the moon was bright.
Wolfy lay, but could not sleep,
nothing helped, not even counting sheep!
So up he sprang, right out of bed,
Sneaking out with silent tread.
He made it through the window, he slid down the spout,
he thought he was so clever, he thought he made it out.
He stepped across the cat, across the squeaky porch,
He stepped out in the yard, then his legs froze,
for in the darkness, a violent growl was heard,
"Go back to bed, you little scamp, being out this late? Absurd!"
