Mistake?
"And it just keeps getting worse…" A man angrily turning off his phone. "My paycheck is till next month and we're filming somewhere again!"
He paced around his room changing his emotions from angry to panic real quick. As he paced around he looked at his calendar seeing the days from August 1st to August 29th crossed out and with the heading work time. Currently, it's July 27th. He has to pay rent tomorrow and will end up leaving him broke and he needs to be closer to his workplace. Luka then went to his desk with a laptop on it and opened it. He started searching for roommates near his work area. And In the first post, he found a place 2 blocks away from his workplace and it was cheap. It was just what Luka needed in this time of crisis. He made an account for the site and sent a request. Luka didn't read anything about the post other than it wasn't fake. He felt proud of himself for finding a solution on his own because in situations like these he'll call his mom. It was getting late and he needed sleep so he closed his laptop and went straight to bed.
For the next day, Luka was accepted to move in. Luka went to buy boxes during the same trio he paid rent and left him low on cash. When he came back he spent the whole day putting his stuff into boxes and he ate a sandwich when he finished. His apartment had a void-ish atmosphere as he gutted the apartment from top to bottom. After the sandwich ceased to exist Luka stood up off the chair and stretched. He looked around the small kitchen area and just stared off to space lost in thought. Luka was stuck standing there for five minutes and came back to reality and smacked himself. He hated when he just spaces out. Getting back on track he went towards his room door. Opening it he saw an empty room with only a bed with a childish blanket. The blanket had holes, rips, and stitches. Luka can not leave it behind. It was still soft and comfortable for him while it had that feeling of home. Luka yawned and went to bed taking off his shoes and socks and lay down on his bed. He grabbed out his phone and started watching videos and memes. Subsequently, an hour after doing nothing useful, he got a text from his soon-to-be roommate. Opening the text it read.
Roommate: When are you moving in?
Luka: Tomorrow or the day after.
Roommate: Ok cool ????
Luka: …
Luka was about to say something about what they think of him but he didn't want to come off as weird. So he just left at that and started to sleep. The next day he woke up to an alarm and stretched and mentally prepared himself to get up and start moving boxes into his car. Before he did all of that he stood up and headed towards the kitchen hungry and made himself yet another sandwich. He put mayo, cheese, ham, and Cheetos. The perfect sandwich at the moment. Afterward, the poor sandwich disappeared into his stomach. Satisfied with his meal he got up ready to put the filled boxes of stuff in his car. First, he did the boxes in the kitchen. They were heavy due to all the pots and pans. Second, in the living room, the boxes there were much lighter because it was just movies and games. Lastly, in the bathroom and his room, it took him a while for Luka to take all the boxes out of his room because of the amount of important stuff he needs. Luka went outside to his SUV and it helped him a lot throughout his adult life.
Putting it in use again he opened the trunk and started putting the boxes in. The heat of the sun was getting to Luka, causing him to sweat a bit. While Luka was doing that a fellow neighbor noticed he was moving out. They walked up to him, as they did Luka at them to see a familiar face. It was Rebecca and she was messing with her long black hair when she asked.
"Why are you leaving Luka?" Rebecca asked. "Money is getting tight and I found the perfect place close to my work and cheap rent because I will split it with a roommate!" Luka was a bit giddy about going due to the fact he likes going to new places. Rebecca didn't like the word 'roommate' she then asked. "Are they a boy or girl? Human or beast?" Luke then stopped and realized he doesn't know. "I uh… Don't know…" He gave out a nervous laugh and Rebecca sighed in disapproval. She stopped messing with her hair and said. "Luka you gotta be careful with stuff like this. Who knows what they do for a living?" Hearing these words made Luka feel like a dunce. "Sure it may be the quote and quote perfect spot to be in but it's too good to be true. You can be an idiot sometimes." Luka realized his mistake and he started to panic a bit. "You have my number. Text me if anything goes wrong." She suggested.
"I will… Thanks for looking out for me Rebecca." Luka said as he continued to put the boxes in his car. "No problem you dunce." She smiled and decided to help Luka with the boxes. After they were finished. "See ya later Luka hope you don't die!" She said as Luka was getting in his car now scared and nervous. "You didn't have to say that!" Rebecca ignored him and left them back to her apartment room on the second floor of the building. "And there she goes…"
Luka grabbed out his phone and texted his soon-to-be roommate he's coming and opened the GPS to the new apartment he's headed to. It was a two-hour-long drive. Once he was five minutes away he was exhausted from driving in the heat for so long. He was covered in sweat and breathing weirdly. Luka was at a red light waiting for it to turn green. He looked around to keep himself entertained and to keep his mind off the heat to find a cafe that looked rather pleasant. Luka thought he might wanna go there tomorrow to see what they have available. The light turned green and continued to go to his destination. Luka found himself looking at a good-looking apartment building. It had five floors and he realized that he doesn't know what room or floor he's supposed to be in. He grabbed out his phone after he parked nearby and started texting his roommate.
Luka: I'm at the apartment building and I don't know which room it is.
Roommate: First-floor third room to the left. I'm at work and I left the spare key under the mat.
Luka: Ok thanks!
Roommate: …
A claw was tapping on the phone lightly. Deciding what to send next. "Emilia! The break is over." A black scaled dragon with red eyes got a bit annoyed and turned around to look at her human manager. "Ok, I'll be out there in a bit." As soon as she said that the human left. "Stupid mmmm!" She grunted to herself quietly.
Emilia was in a room with a table and some snacks around her. She was sitting on the ground with her phone on her claw. Emilia placed the phone down on the table next to a bag of what seems to be a maid uniform. She looked at it with disgust and opened it to grab the clothes out. She doesn't like wearing clothes, especially this. Before she put them on Emilia grabbed a tote bag from under the table with a butterfly design and put her phone in it. Putting the bag back under the table she started dressing up. The apron was first and kinda hard to put on, having to put her arms and wings through the holes. The hardest part was having to tie a knot behind her and no one was around to help. Emilia concentrated and managed to get it done. Next were some cloth rings that match the uniform design and they went on her tail, hind legs, and claws. Afterward, All she had left was the headpiece she put near the base of her horns. She then grabbed a custom-made bag nearby for her to carry stuff carefully with and put it hanging around her neck.
"Let's get this shit done…" Emilia sighed and headed towards the door. "Hello, sir what can I get for you today?" Emilia asked politely with a smile. At a table with a singular human guy. "Aren't you supposed to say, master?." The guy said and that got Emilia a bit mad. He was a regular and he likes to see Emilia "I would prefer not to say that sir." Emilia, she said with a smile, being as natural as she could make it. "Well, whatever… I would like three waffles with strawberry syrup and a chocolate smoothie." The guy answered. "Ok! Anything else or are you good?" She replied. "Nah I'm good…" Emilia nodded and walked away.
She told the chefs the order and came back with his food inside the custom-made bag and she has. Emilia sat down so she could open the bag and use her claws to place down his food. She left as soon she placed down the food down it was the end of her shift. She headed towards the break room and was met with a few other human girls there chatting. Emilia instantly started taking everything off her and putting them in the clothes bag. Grunting and visibly angry she grabbed her tote bag.
"Every time you're like this. Do you ever release stress?" One of the girls in the room said. "Thanks for being concerned! But I can manage on my own!" Emilia said, snorting.
Emilia put the clothes bag in her tote bag and put the tote bag hanging on her neck. She went outside the building which was the cafe from earlier. Emilia always had weird glances from humans and she got used to it by this point. She started to take a flight to go home faster because she hates being near people for too long. Emilia made sure no one was around her because dust can get in their eyes. She took flight and she already saw the apartment building. Emilia was near the ground because going too high can lead to issues. Emilia landed near the apartment entrance carefully. She was planning to surprise their roommate.
"I wonder what kind of dragon they are! Finally someone I can relate to!" Emilia thought the anonymous person was a dragon because of the description on the post.
Now overly excited to meet a new dragon Emilia went inside the apartment building and started heading towards and headed towards the left side. What she saw next… confused her. She saw a human male with fluffy brown hair waiting near her door waiting holding his phone.
"That can't be them. I even said I don't like humans!' She looked at the guy confused.
Emilia started walking towards her apartment door and as she did the guy got more nervous with each step. She got to her door and the guy couldn't take it anymore.
"I'm sorry but… is this your apartment?" The guy said nervously. "Yes?" Emilia said back to him confused. "My name is Luka and I will be your new roommate…" Luka stuttered trying to look at Emilia, eye to eye. "So your… But the post said I don't like humans…" Emilia questioned. "It did? I'm sorry I was kinda rushing and didn't read…" Luka answered. "Ugh! Fine whatever! How long are you staying…?" Emilia interrogated while getting angry. Luka noticed her rising hostility and started stuttering more. "I-I sh-should o-o-only be staying a-a m-month." Luka already felt threatened after answering when she just gave him a stare. "Uh-huh…" Emilia noticed how he was reacting to every movement she made making him nervous. "So I'm guessing you already went inside?" She asked. "Kinda… I put my boxes in the living room because I don't really wanna go anywhere else without your permission." Luka said hoping he made the right decision. "Good. I don't want a human messing with my shit!" She angrily exclaimed. Luka jumped and Emilia laughed at him a bit.
At least there's something she likes.
