\n Part 1.

\n

\n

\n

\n Daniel Beach.

\n

\n

\n

\n “It’s 6.30 on a gorgeous Monday morning........”

\n

\n

\n

\n I groan as my paw comes up and hits the snooze button on my radio alarm clock.

\n

\n

\n

\n “Damn it, why does Monday morning always come round so damn quick?” I groan as I get out of bed.

\n

\n

\n

\n I look in the full length mirror that stands against the bedroom wall, the figure that stares back at me wearing a pair of loose fitting striped pj’s is that of a Doberman standing at 5’9” in height, and 26 years of age, unlike most other Doberman dogs though I still have my full tail, I just could never face getting my tail docked, but other than that I’m just your average Doberman, yup that’s me, Daniel Beach.

\n

\n

\n

\n I work for a computer company in the heart of London, though I’m not a CEO or even a Vice President, no I work in an office situated in the technical call centre, basically when someone’s computer system crashes my ears get bent, true it’s a mundane job but in these times where jobs are hard to come by I am not complaining.

\n

\n

\n

\n I live just on the outskirts of London which means that I have to take a train to commute into work. I look at the clock again and see 6.45 so I quickly take a shower and then throw on my working clothes and head down to the kitchen to fix a quick breakfast, which usually comprises of two rounds of toast and a can of soft drink.

\n

\n

\n

\n 7.15 and I’m out of my front door and making the twelve minute walk to the train station, sure I have a car, but when you work in London you find that parking spaces are at a premium, and those that you do find usually cost the earth, so it’s much cheaper and quicker to let the train take the strain.

\n

\n

\n

\n I always catch the 7.30 commercial train bound for Waterloo, which usually arrives at my stop at 8.45, then it’s a brisk ten minute walk to the office, with it being a commercial train it carries freight as well as passengers. I take my seat on the train and look around the carriage, and I see him again, sat four seats in front of me and facing me is what I can only describe as a Wolf/Husky hybrid, a gorgeous specimen at that, yes folks, for those of you who didn’t see the signs, I’m a gay Doberman.

\n

\n

\n

\n I have seen this guy every working day for the last two years and my crush on him just gets stronger each time that I see him. I purposely sit in this seat because I know that he is a creature of habit, I get onto the train, the train heads to the next stop which is where he gets on, he always seems to end up in the same carriage as me and usually he is facing me, and as usual he is reading a newspaper. Our eyes only connect every once in a blue moon, but when they do I always have to struggle to hide my feelings for him.

\n

\n

\n

\n I know that this is all probably in vain because I will lay odds that he is straight and has a loving female back at home, but until 8.45 he is my dream date. Half an hour into the journey something happens that is to change our lives forever.

\n

\n

\n

\n There is a loud explosion from towards the front of the train, every carriage begins to shudder and then one by one they derail and either end up on their side, or on top of the carriage in front. The noise is deafening as screeching metal mingles with the sounds of many screaming and crying commuters, suddenly all is in darkness and then I black out.

\n

\n

\n

\n I come to moments later, all I can hear is the pained screams of trapped furs, and the sunlight is blocked by the thick clouds of dust that fills the carriage. I try to move my limbs and find to my thanks that besides having a large piece of metal piercing the seat beside me I am in one piece and can move relatively freely. I look forward four seats and can just make out the limp body of my dream date, a large piece of wood has him pinned into his seat, I make up my mind that I need to act and act fast.

\n

\n

\n

\n I slowly rise from my seat and clamber over the large piece of metal at my side, and then I begin to walk steadily forward checking to see if there is anyone that is in need of immediate help. I lift a few small metal beams off of various furs and check their injuries, I next check on a bull that was sat two seats away from me, he has no pulse and looks to have been skewered by a piece of metal.

\n

\n

\n

\n I let out a whimper and a sob as I realise that I will likely see more dead bodies. Next I make it to where the hybrid is pinned into his seat, I check his pulse and find amazingly that his pulse is strong and that he is relatively uninjured, I begin to slowly move the piece of wood that has him pinned. As I move the piece of wood some sort of liquid flows into the carriage from above us and we get absolutely soaked with it, but for now I pay it no mind as I slowly begin to remove him from his seat.

\n

\n

\n

\n With the hybrid now in my arms I head for the carriage door that is nearest to us only to find that we are about twenty feet above solid ground, I turn and make my way towards the back of the carriage and find an open door which is about two feet above the ground. I call back to the walking wounded that there is a means of escape and they all slowly follow me out.

\n

\n

\n

\n I lay the hybrid gently down on the ground and then I stand on shaky footpaws and look at the scene of devastation all around me. All I see are derailed carriages most of which are on their side, I see bodies strewn everywhere, I look up to where I had been sitting and just above there is some sort of liquid tanker that has ridden up over our carriage, I see that it is leaking and fearing another explosion I get everybody who can move away from the area and into the fields by the side of the track.

\n

\n

\n

\n I look back down at the hybrid, he is now awake and he speaks to me.

\n

\n

\n

\n “We need to try and get as many of the trapped furs off the train as we can, god knows if or when that tanker will explode”

\n

\n

\n

\n He stands up and heads back into the carriage, and I can only admire his courage and determination, I follow him in and we manage to rescue another eight furs until we begin to see sparks that threaten to ignite the liquid that is now pouring from the tanker.

\n

\n

\n

\n We run from the carriage just in time as a spark catches the liquid and then engulfs the whole carriage in a fireball. Within the next five minutes there is fire leaping from carriage to carriage, any souls that were still trapped have surely now perished. In the distance I can see the flashing lights of the emergency services as they speed their way towards the carnage.

\n

\n

\n

\n I look towards my dream date and find that he is now standing strong on his footpaws. I stand and find that I too feel stronger but I put it down to the adrenalin rush, I stand in front of the hybrid, he holds a paw out to me and speaks.

\n

\n

\n

\n “I owe you my life my friend, my name is Luke Angel”

\n

\n

\n

\n I take his paw in mine and make my own introduction.

\n

\n

\n

\n “My name is Daniel Beach, it’s nice to finally be able to put a name to the fur that I have often sat and admired for the past two years”

\n
