Shironami does not fit in well with the rest of his kappa clan; his brother Kuronami is the strong silent type, his father Uzu is stern but wise, and the rest of them are downright barbaric. Shironami on the other hand is quite soft and weak by kappa standards making him utterly worthless in a fight. The tanuki lord Daisuke took him in, seeing in him a much more valuable skill in Shiro's expert cooking. Not just the usual kappa diet of cucumbers or human flesh- Shironami loves to learn to cook with every new ingredient he comes across. He is not good with his words- but communicates well with his food. Whether it is inspiration and strength to enter the battlefield or the energy and nutrients to recover from a battle already won- perhaps Shiro isn't so useless in a fight after all.

After saving his lover, Keiko unintentionally earned a green magatama that embodies Shironami's aspect, and a permanent place at his table.
