KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

Furry of claws; Epilogue; home front.

Damithril had dug a fourth hole already.
They had decided to bury the hunters and the dragon. Even when they had done
horrible things he could not leave them rot. His body was still sore, his right
wing arm was covered with cloth. The wing membrane had gone missing, ripped off
by the dragon. A tear rolled from his cheek as he dug another hole. He would
never be able to fly again. Rakshasi had gone of trying to find some more
water. They would leave later today. Damithril had set most horses free besides
the horses that where needed for the carriage. The two dragons would take the
carriage as spoils of war. After all if he could no longer fly it might be the
best way to way to move across the lands.

It took Damithril hours to burry all the
bodies, Rakshasi had joined him to cover the bodies up with dirt. The two did
not spoke much to each other. Little was there to be said, they had succeeded
in what they wanted. Rakshasi blamed herself for what happened to Damithril’s
wing even when he told her again and again not to worry. The two dragon turned
around, they were met by the young child who they seen earlier. A notice in his
hands. The child was terrified. Damithril and Rakshasi looked at each other a
plan started to brew between them. Rakshasi smiled kindly to the terrified
child, she offered her dulled clawed hand to the child. With a shaking hand the
child took it, maybe he was to terrified not to take the offer. Maybe he was
not sure if dragons where evil. Rakshasi took the child of his horse and set
him on the ground next to him. Damithril could feel what she was doing, her
mind touched the child so they could talk. She assured the child they were not
here to harm him. The child looked with big eyes at the two dragons. Rakshasi
took the note from the child, a warning to the king that the two had escaped
the town. Rakshasi gave an amused smile at the note, she passed in on to
Damithril.

After a hour the child relaxed around the
two dragons, he even started to talk. His parents died from the cold winter. He
was taken on by the hunters, nothing more than a servant. Rakshasi told him of
her own parents, making the child loosen up more. Damithril could feel a small
hint of satisfactory overcome Rakshasi when the child became friendly to the
two dragons. “I wonder” Damithril
asked the child curious. “Do you wish to
drive a golden carriage?”
he pointed at the carriage with the horses. The
child widened his eyes and nodded with the child delight. He asked them where
the two dragons wanted to go to.  “Dunick”  Rakshasi said determent.

The trip brought the two dragons past
villages and towns. They never entered through, it would be odd for anyone to
suddenly see dragons coming from a carriage. Never the less, most hunters where
still active. They hold up to set small camps on the side of the road. Chatting
and singing. The child started to become attached to the dragons. “Tell me, what you want to be when you grow
up”
Damithril asked to child. “A
dragon knight!”
it made the two dragons chuckle.

The snow began melt and animals started to
waken up. They had been on the road for a month now. It was a strange
realisation that they had to take so long with the carriage if they could do
the total distance in a few weeks with the power of their wings. When Rakshasi
was not looking, Damithril still would caress the wing-arm without the
membrane. He tried to supress the feeling of sadness within him that he would
never be able to fly again.

It was early in the morning, the golden
carriage rolled into the town. Giving rise to a crowd following the carriage to
the town plaza. “Some sweet home”
Rakshasi smiled, looking outside trough a crack in the curtains. She saw the
people she knew, the people who helped her. Most of them had cuts and marks of
a fight but seemed fine. At the jarl’s house the carriage stopped. Arryn the
elven jarl exited the large house. She looked at the carriage, her eyes filled
with an odd sense of hate. She seemed to shout something into the building.
Both dragons inside the carriage waited to come out. wanting to see what Arryn
was going to do. A blue dragon exited the building, walking to the carriage. He
had the jarl’s crown as well. The image filled Rakshasi with a bit of anger.
She only know one jarl of Dunick. That was Arryn. She opened the door and stepped
out of the carriage. A silence felt over the plaza. Arryn’s eyes lighten up in pure
joy. Damithril was next, looking over the plaza. Despite the fact they had to
deal with another dragon of Bahmarix’s clan the air was enlightened with joy.
The blue dragon was unsure how to react to the presents of the two dragons.

Arryn looked at the glares between the
dragons, she gave a smile. “My apologies!” She quickly said. “Introductions,
This is my wife Apala” She pointed at the blue dragoness. Apala bowed slightly
at the two, still confused how the two would arrive in the king’s carriages.
“The king send her to oversee this town...This ran just a little bit strange…”
Rakshasi gave a long stare at the dragoness, was she an egg breaker? “Apala,
love. This is Rakshasi and Di…” Arryn was stopped by Damithril. “Si thric drongilt
tepoha batobot ominak. Si mi Damithril” Arryn was happily surprised by
Damithril’s ability to speak draconic. “My, you have changed! Damithril?” The
jarl gave an glare at Rakshasi, who nodded at Arryn. “Well it suits you. Why
don’t you come inside for some nice warm drinks? It is still a bit cold for
dragons to run around”

Once inside and behind closed door Apala
started to speak again. her question best not asked in large public. “Svanoa
tira wux itrewica wer daar jacida harfak.” Arryn nodded to the question. “Yes,
I would like to know…How.” Rakshasi and Damithril looked at each other. The
gaze moved to the child, asking him to wait outside for a minute. “You do not
have to…” Arryn stopped at the glare of Rakshasi, a serious glare that meant
little good. “yth svadria jacida fothisev stoda” The words of Rakshasi let a
silence fill the room. the elf and the dragon looked at each other with shock
before they looked at Rakshasi and Damithril again. “Oh my…I should have known,
you always told that you would do that. So what will you do now?” Apala looked
at bit, disappointed at her mate. “Bahmarix ornla ti qe lotoc mrith sventir wer
daar.” Rakshasi gave a small chuckle. “Should
I tell what happened to Bahmarix or do you want to do it, Damithril”

Damithril bent forever, showing his most
serious face. “Wux itrewic udoka xuut. yth svent wer daar mrith jacida kurjh
caex... yth svadria bahmrix jacida fothisev stoda” “Damithril! You are supposed to tell them not try to frighten them.” Rakshasi
had a small chuckle at his choice of wording. True the killing of someone was
not to be laughed at. The two had passed that station, they had gone through
the roller-coaster of hate to end up back home. “You killed a dragon? Why
Rakshasi?” Rakshasi took a deep breath telling Apala and Arryn about the
travel. How Damithril gotten to know his name. they told them about how
Bahmarix was responsible for the war on dragons just because he found his own
clan more important than those around. It made Apala shiver in disgust. She
told them about her parents, she was born from an not so clean relation between
Bahmarix and another dragoness who was not his mate. Apala told them how she
was always treated like crap by him. However she never expected this kind of
egg breaking to be done by that golden dragon. She seemed a bit relieved to
find that he had died.

The sun had started to go down, the child
was already dead tired. Arryn asked one of her hands to give the child a room
and tell him a bed time story. With the child gone again the asked the two
dragons what they wanted with the child. Rakshasi surged, telling them that
they found the child a bit in a mix. He was orphaned and had to tell the king
about them breaking free. Rakshasi left the bloody tail in the town aside. They
couldn’t just leave the child alone so they took him, maybe someone from the
town could take him. Arryn looked at Apala. For a moment there was an odd spark
between the dragon and elf. “We take him” they told the two dragons. “We have
no way to get an heir to the throne of this town…he seems a nice boy.” Apala
nodded, not minding to raise a human child. Rakshasi nodded, promising to tell
him the first time in the morning. Some servants came to guide the two dragons
to the room. Tomorrow there would be another day. Rakshasi and Damithril
crawled in the two person bed, they only needed half of it. coming to enjoy the
closeness of sleeping with wrings wrapped around each other.

A
dark green dragon stood in front of Damithril. Smiling at him. “And do you know
why I am here?” the dragon asked Damithril, it was the dead mate of Rakshasi.
Damithril gave a soft shake with his head. “I think I might know…but I think it
is an absurd idea” the dragon placed a claw on Damithril’s shoulder, smiling
down at him. “go on tell me, I am curious” Damithril nodded. “Well, I came to
think. I never knew my dragon past, I still don’t know why I have become an
adult dragon in the first place…so I thought maybe because of you?”

The
green dragon nodded, giving Damithril a small embrace, light flowed between him
and Damithril. The same kind of light and sensation that flown between
Damithril and Dion when they merged. “Bahmarix killed me…he shot the arrow. You
were born from my soul, you are me. I am you. The life you lived before you met
Rakshasi are a mystery to us both. Promise me trough, take care of Rakshasi.”
Damithril nodded to the other Damithril, it was a bit confusing. The two
dragons looked much alike, only the shade of green was the difference between
them. Damithril felt an tinkle past his body. a shiver ran down his spines, the
dark green dragon started to slip into his body. becoming one with his soul
again. Damithril could feel closure, he had become one with himself. His past,
his human mind in balance. “Wait, did you tell Rakshasi?” he asked the green
dragon when he had almost disappeared. “Look behind you” was the reply from
Rakshasi. She stood behind him with tearing eyes, the dream world changed. He
was in a shared world again with Rakshasi and him standing in a large empty
room. “Rather white don’t you think” Rakshasi said with a smile. Her face still
wet with tears. Slowly the room changed to the cave she had. Trough with more
silk and golden. She closed the distance to Damithril “I always knew there was
something special about you.” She looked down and leaned against him “I never
knew…you are the mate I lost” She closed her eyes and kisses him on the lips. The
minds of the two dragons started to melt once again. finally they both found
what they had lost, not caring about the world around them anymore. Even not
caring about the bodies they had, only the intimacy of having their minds
mingle with each other. “All this time” Damithril slowly said to Rakshasi. “All
this time as human, I always missed something. I never knew that this was what
I missed...” Rakshasi embraced the words with her mind, she span around in his
mind. Spreading joy through it. “When I first met you, laying in the grass I
never knew that things would become like this Damithril.” She disappeared from
his mind, leaving Damithril in doubt what she was doing.

He was awakened by a nudge into his
shoulder, Rakshasi had climbed on top of Damithril. She looked down at him and
kissed one more time.
