LittleThunder at the Hangar
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Politely, I remind Reginald that his shoes are undone. The red finch merely laughs in that musical lilt common to the avian species, the feathers around his name bristling with his mirthful birdsong.
"Please, did you even see what I just got done doing? I think I've earned ten minutes. That '105 doesn't do backflips by itself! And I still don’t have a cover photo I like." He says, taking a mouthful of water before tossing his bottle behind the road barrier on the edge of the hangar area. We're to the North of London at his new private airstrip, it's summer, and the heat has been uncommonly brutal. For a pleasant change, the Sun has actually been out in a turn of phrase for 'An English Summer'.
For Reginald, the stunt flying aircrew he's assembled since what he calls his 'Glory days' as a British Armed forces pilot is even better than ever, having just booked a new flight of shows through Europe and Asia, along with his second job as part of the Red Bull Stunt team.
Little Thunder Racing and Airshow, or LTRA, as is emblazoned on all of the equipment and shoulders of the flight coveralls, while a recent venture if his, is already setting itself up for a prosperous new year. We've been attempting to get a decent profile shot to accompany his interview on the events of the '22 Weeks' saga, but alas, none of the photos so far have managed to capture him in a manner he's pleased with. Like most avians, there's a certain streak of vanity in him as bold as his feathers' are red.
Even as we line up for another photoshoot while he’s breaking from the day’s routines, a call comes in over the PA speakers, which are slaved to the currently flying aircrafts’ cockpit frequencies.
“Peregrin flight, we’re going to do a flyby on the tower after this maneuver.”
At once, I’m up on my feet, dragging the photographer down to his knees so the panoramic lens on his camera is aimed slightly more skyward as the sound of the low flying jets begins to grow louder.
“Hang on, I think this next one will sell it. Just hold that pose for a moment…”
