KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

\n Hey people, so I decided to take NewFur's advice and put an idicator as to when time advances. If you see ***** then time passed. Kergiby away!

\n

\n I jumped out of bed. I was still in pants, which made me feel just a little better. Though my shirt was gone.

\n

\n "Did we-"

\n

\n "No! No..." Haley sounded just a little disappointed.

\n

\n "Okay... Okay..." I sighed. Haley shot me a look. "Not that I wouldn't want to, but I just... It'd be awkward- I- Um... I'm gonna just stop talking now. "

\n

\n Haley laughed a very hearty laugh. "It's fine."

\n

\n "Okay great... So um... what exactly happened?"

\n

\n "You must have hit your head harder than I thought."

\n

\n "Huh?" She patted the bed for me to sit down. I obeyed, and sat at the edge of the bed.

\n

\n "Last night," she started, "We had just finished dancing when you kissed me. We were continuing that when you ended up backing up and fell down. Your head hit the tile. I patched you up, but you were kinda incoherent, so I called your parents. At first they didn't believe me, but when you said something about purple unicorns... they kinda figured I was telling the truth." I vaguely started thinking about it, and it sounded about right.

\n

\n "Okay, that's fine and everything, but where's my shirt?" Haley looked just a little embarrassed.

\n

\n "I just felt like it..." She sheepishly said. I laughed.

\n

\n "Oh is that so?" I crawled on top of her and placed my lips on her, straddling her. She was running her hands through my fur, scratching my back. My tail was wagging happily when I rolled over, pulling her with me. She looked so beautiful in this position. The light shone behind her, creating an outline. Then I thought of something.

\n

\n "Shit. When are your parents coming back?"

\n

\n "Um... Oh... Fuck." I sat up a little.

\n

\n "What?"

\n

\n "You need to get out. Now."

\n

\n "Really?"

\n

\n "Yes! Now!" She stood up and threw my shirt at me. I started to put it on.

\n

\n "How long do I have?"

\n

\n "Like, two minutes."

\n

\n "Crap." I kissed her and quickly grabbed my shoes, running outside into the morning air. I jumped in my car and drove away. Then I realized. This was a one way street. They'd see me. They'd know. Fuck.

\n

\n I panicked slightly trying to come up with a plan. Then I realized what I had to do. I pulled up in front of another house and ducked down. I don't know how long I was hiding there, but I waited until I heard several cars drive passed before I left. And he makes a clean getaway, I thought to myself.

\n

\n *****

\n

\n I walked in the house quietly. Mom and Dad would probably still be sleeping. I rubbed my eyes groggily. I just wanted to go back to sleep. I crawled downstairs and collapsed onto the bed when I heard my phone buzz. I looked at it and saw Jake's number.

\n

\n Jake: Dude, where are you?

\n

\n Me: Just got into bed.

\n

\n Jake: Where you been?

\n

\n Me: Party.

\n

\n Jake: You talking about Haley's?

\n

\n Me: Yeah

\n

\n Jake: How'd it go?

\n

\n Me: I'm really tired do we have to do this now?

\n

\n Jake: Dude, of course we have to do it now.

\n

\n

\n

\n I sighed and cracked my neck. I thought of what to say.

\n

\n Me: It wasn't anything big, just the two of us doing a lot of talking, then a lot of kissing, then I woke up this morning and I was in her bed.

\n

\n Jake: Dude you did not.

\n

\n Me: No I didn't. I just woke up there. I bumped my head pretty bad or something.

\n

\n Jake: Oh... Still! Man that's awesome!

\n

\n Me: I know...

\n

\n Jake: So what's up?

\n

\n Me: Can I sleep now?

\n

\n Jake: Oh yeah sure. You working tonight?

\n

\n Me: Yeah.

\n

\n Jake: Alright. Later man.

\n

\n *****

\n

\n I woke up at about one in the afternoon. Mom was shaking me.

\n

\n "Brent. Wake up."

\n

\n "Huh? Wha-? I'm Up!" I dug my head farther into the pillow. I smiled contently at how nice the pillow was. It was all soft and warm and- FUUUUUU

\n

\n "Mom!" I jumped as a bucket of water fell on me. I was drenched in water. "What the hell?"

\n

\n "You need to get up!"

\n

\n "Why?"

\n

\n "You have to be at work in half an hour."

\n

\n "Great. Just great." I stood and grabbed my shirt and pants and went into the bathroom. I rubbed my eyes exhaustively. "That night was pretty great." I said congratulating myself.

\n

\n *****

\n

\n I drove into work and did a quick clock in. Erica was hanging out at the front door, cleaning the windows. I went out and talked to her. She was a woman of about her forties with black hair and blond highlights. She had a lip ring at some point. And a small stud on her nose, which still resided there. A lifetime of cigarettes left her voice scratchy, her body abused, and her mind fragile.

\n

\n "Hey kid." She said to me.

\n

\n "Hey."

\n

\n "How you doing?"

\n

\n "I'm great actually.been having a good day."

\n

\n "That's good."

\n

\n "Yeah. I can't remember what happened last night though..."

\n

\n "That sounds like some party." She was smiling.

\n

\n "Yeah... If you can count two people as a party."

\n

\n "What happened last night?"

\n

\n "I don't really know. I heard that I hit my head or something." I rubbed my head and felt a bump. "Ow."

\n

\n "How bout your bruises?"

\n

\n "Oh, they're fine, can't really tell that they're there."

\n

\n "Good. You closing tonight?'

\n

\n "Yeah."

\n

\n "Alright. How bout homework?" She was finished with the windows and walked inside now.

\n

\n "I got a paper to finish, no big deal though."

\n

\n "Alright."

\n

\n I went about my normal routine that night helping the regulars. Jake stopped by at one point, and I was able to take my break with him.

\n

\n "So tell me everything that happened." He said, taking a big bite out of his usual pepperoni and jalapeno pizza.

\n

\n "Not much to tell. I mean... we talked for a while, ate, we were just hanging around."

\n

\n "Dude, there is no way you went to her place and didn't do anything." I smiled coyly. He was very pressing about my 'getting some'. But when I asked him he said that humans didn't like to be settled down, which I mean, c'mon, I'm not an idiot.

\n

\n "Well... Now that you mention it..." I went on telling him the story of the dance. How we kissed and what she tasted like. What she smelled like, everything. Gentlemen may not kiss and tell, but teenagers sure as hell do. Jake completely ate the whole thing up. He was totally loving it. It struck me as odd that he never so much as asked someone out. Let's face it, saying 'I want to have sex with you' is not asking someone out. That's just asking for a beating.

\n

\n "Dude, you are one lucky fox." I smiled and took a drink.

\n

\n "I know it."

\n

\n "Seriously though, I mean... you can get someone so easily. For me, it's hard."

\n

\n "What do you mean?"

\n

\n "Dude... I can't get anyone."

\n

\n "Maybe it's because you're womanizer." I joked. He kicked my shin under the table. "Ow! What was that for?"

\n

\n "You know damn well what that was for."

\n

\n "I was joking! Yeesh."

\n

\n "I don't like being one... It's just..."

\n

\n "What?"

\n

\n "Nothing."

\n

\n "Seriously, what?"

\n

\n "Nothing!" He nearly shouted and his voice cracked. I laughed a little.

\n

\n "You're so gay..." Jake muttered something that I couldn't make out, but before I could ask about it, a customer came in. Jake just nodded at me. A nod that said so much. I stood up and walked to the podium.

\n

\n "Hi, welcome to Michaelangelo's how many in your party?" The human male turned his head and looked right at me. My stomach knotted in many different angles. I felt like I was going to be murdered. It was Mr. Arnold.

\n

\n "Just one." He said.

\n

\n "Okay, right this way." I grabbed a menu and led him to a table for two at the window.

\n

\n "Anything I can get you to start off?"

\n

\n "Ice Tea."

\n

\n "Alright. My name is Brent and I'll be your server tonight. If you need anything just holler." Mr. Arnold shot me a look. One that seemed to say, I know what your name is, I know what you are, and I know what you did with my daughter. I didn't let him me shudder at the shivers he could send up my spine. I walked passed where Jake was sitting, and he was gone. Half the pizza was still on the table, and there was money on the table. Where could he have gone? I cleaned up and took the food back to the kitchen. I filled up a glass with ice and pressed the button for Ice Tea. While it filled I sent Jake a quick text, asking where he went.

\n

\n I took the glass to Mr. Arnold and he ordered a small pepperoni pizza. When I came back into the dining area there wasn't much to do so I just prepped pointlessly while my mind drifted to Haley. It felt really awkward to dream about her while her dad was in the room. It just felt... wrong. Mr. Arnold kept shooting me glances which was just weird. I heard a ring come from the kitchen and went to pick up the pizza and serve it to him.

\n

\n "Alright there you go." I set it down on the table.

\n

\n "Thank you." He said with hospitality. I turned to walk away. "Brent is it?"

\n

\n "Yes sir, that's right."

\n

\n "Would you like to sit down and have a talk with me?" That was the first sign that I noticed, though him coming alone was odd enough. I mean, this is the guy whose career is based on us being lower beings, and he wants me to sit down with him?

\n

\n "Um... I just took my break, sorry."

\n

\n "Oh, that doesn't matter. Besides." He gestured at the empty restaurant. "There's not much else for you to do." I should have said no. I should have declined. Anything else.

\n

\n "Alright..." I sat down at the table hesitantly.

\n

\n "Now then, what grade are you in?"

\n

\n "I'm a Junior."

\n

\n "A Junior! Why, my daughter is a Junior, you wouldn't happen to know her would you? Haley Arnold?"

\n

\n "I have Math with her, yeah."

\n

\n "And?"

\n

\n "And... what?"

\n

\n "What do you think of her?"

\n

\n "She's alright." Yeah, alright, you know, beautiful, sexy, smart, funny, kind... I guess you could say she's alright.

\n

\n "Just alright?'

\n

\n "I don't know what else to say sir..."

\n

\n "Very well. Now then, what's your opinion on humans?"

\n

\n "I have no problems with them. But if they start attacking us, I will stand up for what's right."

\n

\n "I like that. That's an admirable quality."

\n

\n "Um... Thanks?"

\n

\n "Brent, why do you look so nervous?"

\n

\n "With all due respect sir, I'm just a little confused. Why are you talking to me? I mean, you made a career on talking about how evil we are, so I'm just trying to figure it out."

\n

\n "A man can't have a change of heart? Or be curious?" Not a man like you...

\n

\n "Okay."

\n

\n "What car do you drive?"

\n

\n "It's uh- a 2012 Dodge Doomsday."

\n

\n "What color?" What is with all the questions?

\n

\n "Blue..."

\n

\n "Good color blue." Okay, I don't like all this... What's his angle?

\n

\n "Yes sir."

\n

\n "Sir, so formal. I suspect your parents were very firm on manners."

\n

\n "Yup."

\n

\n "What are your plans for the future?"

\n

\n "I'm still undecided... I mean, there's a lot of potential things I'm interested in bu-" Mr. Arnold's face changed. He suddenly went from looking very interested in what I was saying to clearly agitated, and not caring.

\n

\n "Let's cut out the crap, shall we son?"

\n

\n "What do you want Arnold?" My facade of respect was gone in an instant.

\n

\n "Listen, I know that you were at my house last night. I saw your car. I saw you park there and duck down."

\n

\n "I don't know what you're ta-"

\n

\n "I also found fox hair. I could smell your cheap cologne in my house." I felt like I was being led to the guillotine.

\n

\n "How do you know it wasn't some other boys?"

\n

\n "Because I saw the way you looked at my daughter the other night. I saw the desire. And I smell the same cologne on you right now." I really wish I had time to shower before coming to work...

\n

\n "You can't pin anything on me. I didn't do anything wrong." I sat back smugly.

\n

\n "Listen to me you wretch!" He stood and was screaming. "If you ever, ever come near my daughter again, I will kill you!" He stood, slapped ten on the table and stormed out. I sat in the now deafening silence of the store and looked around. Erica popped her head out of the kitchen and looked at me. I gave her a weak smile and felt numb.

\n

\n Why am I always being threatened?

\n

\n
\n *****

\n

\n I got into bed that night, homework done and laid down. Jake was still ignoring my texts, which made me feel like shit. Man, what did I say to him? I decided not to think about it. I sent Haley a text though. She didn't respond. Not for ten minutes. Twenty. Nearly an hour, and still no reply. I was almost asleep when I got a call.

\n

\n "Hello?"

\n

\n "Hey Brent." I heard Haley whisper.

\n

\n "Haley! Why haven't you answered my texts?"

\n

\n "My dad took my phone away."

\n

\n "Seriously? Lame."

\n

\n "I know." She sighed.

\n

\n "Are you in trouble?"

\n

\n "Yeah. He grounded me."

\n

\n "How did he find out that I was there?"

\n

\n "How do yo-" She questioned.

\n

\n "He came into work and threatened me not to be anywhere near you."

\n

\n "Are you freaking kidding me?"

\n

\n "No."

\n

\n "Well are you going to listen?"

\n

\n "What do you think?"

\n

\n "I don't know..."

\n

\n "Well, I'm not going to." I heard her smile.

\n

\n "Good."

\n

\n "Hey Haley?"

\n

\n "Yeah?"

\n

\n "Why does your dad hate furs?" I heard nothing for a little while and knew it wasn't the question to ask.

\n

\n "I gotta go." She hung up in my ear. Great. Really freaking great. Whatever... just try and get som- I fell asleep pretty quickly.

So, yay for many updates that are actually good updates. I knew I couldn't just update and then not write for a while with how I ended it. Please comment, thank you. -kergiby
