Chapter 30.

At the hospital, Tony, Todd and Wolverine stand over Loboron's bed. Tony's legs give way beneath him as he looks at our sons battered and bandaged body, Wolverine quickly wrapped his huge arms around Tony to stop him from hitting the floor, and then slowly and gently moved him to the chair by the side of Loboron's bed.

Todd now pulled Wolverine out of the room, and formed a plan with him.

"Sir, Anthony is in no fit state to remain here, he is to use a teenager's term, completely wasted. I think he would be better being back at Doberman Manner with his mate Wolfern, you and I can take care of things here, besides, young Loboron has some of the finest doctors in the UK looking after him"

A weak giggle escaped Wolverine's muzzle as he replied.

"Of course Mr Styles, you are right, but whatever you do, don't let Wolfie and Tony hear you using their full names. All joking aside though, your plan is a good one, I will carry Tony to my car and take him back to Doberman Manner, you stay by Loboron's bedside, and once I have delivered the Rottweiler back home, I will come back and join you"

Todd and Wolverine now head back into Loboron's hospital room, once inside, Wolverine lifts Tony's limp, and unconscious body into his strong, powerful arms and then heads out of the room and towards the hospital parking area and his waiting car.

Halfway back to Doberman Manner and Tony awakes; he looks around at his surroundings and then spots Wolverine.

"W....Wolverine, where am I? Where is Loboron? Where is Wolfie?"

"Welcome back to the real world Tony, so three questions needing three answers, question and answer number one; where am I? Well, you are in my car. Question and answer number two; where is Loboron? He is safe back at the hospital, and finally question and answer number three; where is Wolfie? Relax; you are on your way to join Wolfie at Doberman Manner. Me and Todd Styles will stay at the hospital and keep an eye on Loboron, you are in no fit state to stay with him, the best place for you is with Wolfie and Senior Doberman, and I promise you this, if anything happens with Loboron, I will call you"

Tony wanted so much to put up a fight, to get Wolverine to turn the car around and head back to the hospital, but he could now see the wisdom in Wolverine's words, he knew that Loboron would be safe in the caring paws of Wolverine and Todd; he then dozed back off into a fitful slumber.

Meanwhile back at the hospital, a young female nurse entered the hospital room, as best as he could, Todd stood and gave his best threatening look before speaking.

"Who are you?"

The nurse looked shocked at first, but then eased back and continued to enter the room whilst giving her reply.

"Please forgive me sir, my name is Lavender Foxtail, I am a private nurse here at the hospital, and I have been assigned to this patient. There have been strict orders left for the care of this young man, there is only one doctor allowed to treat him, Doctor Nial Lancashire, and just one nurse to assist, namely me. Now that you know who I am, maybe you could return the favour, and tell me who you are?"

Todd stepped back from the nurse, in his closeness with the nurse he had noticed her ID badge and just from a quick check had realised that she was telling the truth.

"My name is Todd Styles, I am the housekeeper to Senior Linkin Doberman, and for this evening I am one of the furs charged with young Loboron's safety, the other fur being the child's father's brother, Wolverine"

The nurse nodded her head slightly in understanding and then continued to check out the condition of Loboron.

At the gates of Doberman Manner, Wolverine operates the remote gate controls to open the gates and then drives into the courtyard. As he pulls to a stop outside the front door of the main house, he blows his horn once to alert Senior Doberman of his arrival.

The stately Doberman appears at the door, with me right behind him, I see Tony slumped over in the passenger seat of Wolverine's car, and though I am moments away from collapsing myself, I rush to the car and begin to gently pull my love from the seat. Suddenly, I feel four paws on my shoulders, two huge wolf ones and two Doberman paws almost as big. Linkin whispers into my ear.

"Wolfie, I know that you are worried about Tony and Loboron, but please, go back into the house and let me and Wolverine bring Tony in, I don't want both you and Tony ending up in hospital through exhaustion"

I weakly look into the Doberman's eyes and I begin to falter, Linkin catches my falling body and helps me back into the house and up to his room, leaving Wolverine to carry Tony up to the same room.

I awake some hours later to the sound of Tony sobbing, I turn to my mate and wrap my paws around him and hug him tight.

"Hey Tony, I know that you are worried about our son, truth be known, I am too, but think on this, Loboron has the best doctors and nurses looking after him, he also has a huge seven foot wolf, my brother, your brother-in-law, guarding over him. The fact that Senior Doberman hasn't come up to give us news is in my book, a good sign, because to me it means that things are good so far or at least haven't changed for the worst"

Tony looks at me through tear filled eyes and made his reply.

"Wolfie, I have failed Senior Doberman, I have failed you but what is worse for me is the fact that I have failed our son. He is lying injured in a hospital bed right now, and I should be there at his side"

Senior Doberman entered the room just as Tony said this and cut in.

"Anthony Daniel Stone-Steel, you have not failed anyone, neither of you have, least of all me, your son is in the hospital because of a group of assholes who are no better than bullies. You have taken a young pup who was down on his luck, from the orphanage, you have made him part of your family, you have shown him love and kindness, the lad has wanted for nothing since joining the family. If I were in Loboron's shoes, I would be feeling immensely loved, cared for and proud, and happy to have adopted parents like you"

At the Doberman's words, Tony's face became brighter, and I'm sure that I saw the start of a small grin appearing on his muzzle. I now began to be ever so slightly fearful, we were now going to have to find another school for Loboron; it seems that Tony is more tuned into me than I ever thought as he looked at me and gave me a knowing nod just before speaking.

"Wolfie, I know what is going through your mind right now, you are thinking about where to send our son for his schooling once he is well enough to return, I have been giving it a lot of thought myself, sure part of me wants to send our son to another school, but I have two reasons why I believe that London Fur High is still the right school for Loboron, the first reason is the Principle of the school, the way he acted when he saw what the bullies had done to our son. The second reason is you, you have told me all about your shaky start in life and that you have also attended that school, I look at you now and I see a once troubled youth who was then allowed to enter London Fur High and has not looked back since and is now a fine, upstanding and respected fur, if the school can do that for you, then I have no qualms with continuing to send our son there"

I was elated to hear that Tony was still willing to let our son go to the school that had been so good for me. We got showered and then dressed in a fresh set of clothes, and then we headed out to my car to drive to the hospital, as we arrive at the car, my cell phone begins to ring, I look at the display to find that it is Wolverine calling.

"Wolfie, I know that you and Tony are probably getting ready to head to the hospital, but before you make the journey, you may want to pick up a fresh set of clothes for both Loboron and Res, as they are both being released from the hospital today"

Having just heard the best news ever, I nearly drop my cell phone, but I manage to regain my composure and thank Wolverine for the call.

"Well Tony, it seems that we will be taking two cars and two fresh sets of clothing to the hospital, our son and Res are well enough to come home"

Tony gained a shocked look to his muzzle, and remained silent; the shocked look was then quickly replaced with a beaming smile. We headed back to our place and picked up some fresh clothing for Loboron, I then picked out some clothing from my closet which looked as though it would fit Res quite well. With the clothing now gathered, Tony and I both head to our cars and begin the journey to the hospital.

Tony and I arrive at the hospital and enter Loboron's room to find two beds side by side, one containing Loboron; the other containing Res. Dr Lancashire was also in the room along with nurse Foxtail, both of whom had a look of disbelief upon their muzzles. The Doctor sees us as we enter the room and takes us to one side.

"Sirs, something quite remarkable has happened in the last few hours, Res's bed has somehow managed to find its way into your son's room, that though is not the remarkable thing, as of 8 pm last night Res's shoulder still had some very heavy scaring and bruising and was also quite heavily bandaged, so imagine our surprise to find both Res and your son in the same room, Res with no bandages or even any signs of a bullet wound to his shoulder, and your son now completely healed, we are at a complete loss for an explanation, but once they are both dressed, I will happily discharge them and they can return home with you"

We head back to the two beds and I look at our son and gain a slight smile, then I turn to the onlookers and usher everyone out of the room so that Res and Loboron can dress in privacy.

Loboron and Res now make their way out from the room and towards us waiting in the waiting room, I move down one chair so that Loboron can sit between me and Tony.

"Dad, I made me and Res all better, I didn't want to spend another night in this scary place and I knew that Res was feeling the same way, I even floated Res' bed into my room so that Res wasn't alone anymore"

I was aware that my son had some sort of strange powers, but in truth, I was afraid how he would use those powers, though at least for now it seems that I need not worry, because so far, his powers have been used for good. I know only too well though that as our son gets older, he is going to need training to use his powers more effectively.

The head of nursing, a tall black and white female border collie heads towards me to speak.

"Mr Steel, my name is Alex Dunwoody, I'm the head of nursing here at the hospital, I have just been approached by one of my most loyal nurses, nurse Lavender Foxtail, it seems that she has been charmed by your very charming young son, and she wishes to leave her post here at the hospital with a view to taking up a possible position with Dobersoft. I know that Senior Doberman does all of the hiring and firing, but I also know that he holds both you and your mate in very high regard, to that end, I was wondering if you could maybe have a chat with the great dog to see if he has enough room to employ a very dedicated young nurse, she is very dependable, and has a brilliant bedside manner, she will make a perfect addition to your team"

I take my cell phone from my pocket and head outside to make the call, then five minutes later; I head back inside with the news.

"Ms Dunwoody, could I see you and Ms Foxtail in your office please?"

The Boarder Collie rounded up the young female fox and we headed into the head nurses office, once inside the office I closed the door and began to speak.

"Ms Foxtail, your boss Ms Dunwoody came to me earlier asking me if there was a job at Dobersoft for a very dedicated and dependable young nurse, well I have spoken to Senior Linkin Doberman, and I have made him aware of the level of care that my son has received whilst he has been here, and the news is good, he has agreed to take you on as our very own Head Nurse. Now, I believe that your shift here finishes in two hours, and with Ms Dunwoody's approval, I will return to take you straight to Doberman Manner and your new job"

With that, I left the office and collected the rest of my party, and headed back towards Doberman Manner.
